Changing FSX Afcad file to be used in FS9.
Changing FSX Afcad file to be used in FS9.
Using the “Converting FSX AFCADS to use in FS9, program.
I am trying to change, “Area_2011 AR51_ADEX.JLF”, to be used in FS9,
I change, Input BGL,”C:\Users\Bill\Desktop\Spare Folders\Spare Folder 4\Scenery\AR51_ADEX_JLF.bgl“
To Output Bgl “C:\Users\Bill\Desktop\Spare Folders\Spare Folder 3\AF2_AR51l.bgl.”
I keep getting Message,
“Decompile Completed
Removed 117 Excludes
Removed 104 Generic Buildings
Removed 283 Library Objects
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.”
I have used this procedure on other FSX Afcad with no problems

Re: Changing FSX Afcad file to be used in FS9.
The problem with the original file VOR is that it does not have a name. Null is not allowed as far as I can work out.
Edit it in ADE, add a name for the VOR "Groom Lake" comes to mind and re-compile.
Then there's no need to strip out the VOR.

Thank you Mr Rodger,worked
Re: Changing FSX Afcad file to be used in FS9.
After reading this thread I thought I would give it a go, I downloaded the program plus the update, I downloaded an FSX afcad and thought I had converted it.
I renamed it AF2_xxxx.bgl but knowing me I obviously did something wrong because no show.
I then opened the converted afcad with the AFCAD 2.21 program and it opened it no problem, I re-saved it thinking that might work but again no show.
I put it the Addon Scenery/Scenery folder too by the way, i was only trying the program so it isn't crucial but any advice appreciated.

Re: Changing FSX Afcad file to be used in FS9.
The only problem I had was that files were getting named with double extensions ie ******.bgl.bgl.
Other than that, no other ideas ...sorry..

Re: Changing FSX Afcad file to be used in FS9.
FSX to FS9 works quite well.
I would caution that VORs and Approaches should be removed.
If you change the position of VOR's and NDB's in the "afcad" then it causes crash to desktop when you use the map in FS9.
That is if the VOR is already in FS9. There may not be duplicates.
To change the position of Navigation aids in FS9 you will have to open the Nv9xxxx.bgl from the appropriate scenery file.
Open this file with BGLX into .XML format.
Edit the .XML with notepad and then recompile the XML to bgl with "bgl comp".
Note: some of them do not recompile because they have a pre FS9 structure.
Back to FSXtoFS9.
I have on occasion had to import the .XML created by FSXtoFS9 into ADE.
I had to remove portions of these .XML files before they would import.
The ADE file, compiled subsequently, worked fine.
Also, if you can import the .bgl file created by FSXtoFS9 into ADE it should work when you compile it with ADE.

Re: Changing FSX Afcad file to be used in FS9.
Resurrected this thread:
I gave it another try, I converted EGOD, it converted and shown up in FS9 but it had trees all over the parking areas.
Tried another EGOS, this was fine, I was wondering if another tick box is needed for tree removal?

Re: Changing FSX Afcad file to be used in FS9.
You need to add an exclude to cover the area that where the trees are.

Hi Steve, Thanks mate, I guessed that, I messed about with excludes years ago but never got it right, I gave up in the end, I should have kept on with it.
