RAF Akrotiri
RAF Akrotiri
Shaggy22, I cannot locate some of the libraries required for your RAF Akrotiri, probably because I am not familiar with where this site hides them. They are MAIW EGXC Buildings, MAIW Mirage F1 Objects, MAIW fence objects, MAIW Seymour Johnson, MAIW IDF Pt 1, MAIW Papa, MAIW Indonesia, MAIW Beaufort, and MAIW Nellis.

You can search for all these files here : http://www.militaryaiworks.com/download ... ile-search
Re: RAF Akrotiri
Thanks for that, but I had already tried and when I was looking for MAIW fence objects and typed in "fence objects" the result was "0". The same for MAIW EGXC buildings when I typed in "EGXC", and for 7 others. Perhaps these are no longer for download? Or the list with the Akrotiri scenery post on flightsim was wrong?

Re: RAF Akrotiri
You will not find the "Fence objects" directly, it's part of MAIW Pack. (It's a bgl file). In the library, you ll find the entire MAIW Pack.
Have you read the readme file with Akrotiri ?
For EGXC, you must download MAIW RAF Coningsby (EGXC is the ICAO code of Coningsby).
The must, download all the MAIW pack in the library, install all the sceneries, and you'll have all the BGL libraries necessary.

Re: RAF Akrotiri
I did read the .txt with Akrotiri, but there is a difference between being the writer who knows what he is writing and the reader who doesn't. Thanks for the guidance.
Re: RAF Akrotiri
I just noticed that 2 of the 4 hold shorts are the wrong way around; was this made with AFCAD, does anyone know, so I can correct them?

You can modify the afcad with ADE.
Copy the afcad .bgl to a folder of your choice. You can make a new one inside the main ADE folder and call it bgls .
Start ADE. Use the menu option "open from bgl". This will open a search window to find it.
Open the bgl.
Once the airport has loaded, right click on the hold short node. Chose edit object.
There is an option "orientation". There are two options: Forward and Reverse. Choose the alternative to change the direction.
Compile the airport to get it into addon scenery.
To change the direction with Afcad it is more hit and miss.
Take note of the direction arrow on the links either side of the node. Delete the links. Draw the links again in the opposite direction. You may have to edit the details on the link.
Once you get to know ADE it is far easier to modify things.

Re: RAF Akrotiri
I already have ADE thanks. I prefer SceneryGenX for making scenery but if I want to correct something...... I notice I miscounted, it is 3 out of 5 hold shorts that are the wrong way around.
Re: RAF Akrotiri
SceneryGenX? I have never heard of that one. Do you have a website to get it from as I would like to have a look at it.

Re: RAF Akrotiri
It's a very old software by Tom Hiscox, used back in the SCASM days, but a version did emerge that supported FSX in 2008 I think. I used the FS9 version a lot in my early design years. I think Tom ended support a few years ago. SceneGenX would be a retrograde step now, when ADE is easier to use and far more versatile.

Re: RAF Akrotiri
Fair enough. I was more interested in looking at it than switching to use it.
I confess that I tend to use AFX as my main choice as I personally find it easier to use for what I do with afcads. This should not be seen as me putting down the ADE product as I have it installed and do use it when the need arises.

Re: RAF Akrotiri
Yes I agree Steve, I prefer AFX to ADE for AFCADs, largely because of the live preview in the sim. However you can't draw custom filled ground polygons with AFX and you can't of course place scenery objects as ADE does for both these features. ADE is the complete all rounder for more complex scenery projects.

Many thanks

Three is an FSX one (that should work in P3D) by Peter Hermans - available here: https://www.fs2000.org/2015/12/17/fsx-s ... rotiri-ab/
I don't have it and have never seen it, so I can't make any comment about how good it is.
