Sorry I missed that first time around Martin, but I'm glad you prompted me. Love the sea planes in their little harbour.

You even have a Bloodhound missile battery.

Thank you for your really nice comments! I always envisioned it as a kind of MAIW headquarter, John
Name is Owl AFB, by the way. I occupied the north of the German island Fehmarn.

The one thing I obviously did not care about at all is realism.

In order to check and place everything, I just mad a flight plan sending the first aircraft to the next best base and copied that about 120 times. I really really fear the moment I have to make something useful out of that. The idea is to have nice traffic all over the week and everybody home on display over the weekend. If somebody feels like supporting me here - you are more than welcome.

I finally remembered the bug that you may not use an exclusion rectangle if you want to have jetways. It still exists in the latest P3Dv4.
Image

I have started with the final part of this airport - the historical wing. 99% of the fighters and bombers are by John :-). The transport aircraft and some prop trainers will be added now.

I have a bunch of ideas for the Jet fighter wing (parallel takeoff and landing). I very much doubt that this island can take another large base. So I need to invade another place for that. But this is future, and I won't start until this here is done.

By the way - with a good but not extreme computer and P3Dv4 I get a more or less constant 60 FPS.
Cheers,
Martin

Today I want to share only some impressions of the lighting I have done. That was a longer struggle. I finally used Arno's spotlight feature and am very happy with the result.

Lighting is great, I need to look over Arno's file as I have a severe "white-out" in v4.5 in some freeware scenery. Might be a setting in my P3D I need to check.

Exactly the whiteout was my problem as well. It looked more like a death-ray from Star Wars, not an apron lighting.

Next thing I have done is setup John’s AI firefighter and ambulance vehicles to regularly tour the whole airfield. The route goes from the firefighter headquarter around the whole main base, then around the historical base, along the seaplane base, along the heliport and back to the main base. There they will end up back at the firefighter headquarter.

Some pictures will follow soon.

Cheers,
Martin

Here are some shots from the revised airport parts. The flags and windsocks are SODE objects and subject to wind direction and speed.

At some point I noticed one of John's firefighter vehicles and just followed it along its track.

Yes, these are all AI. I need to wait for another 5-6 models to be converted, then I have allI need.

No ship traffic, but I have to start working on the aircraft flight plans.
