RAF Shawbury UK2000

Post by geoffj »

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me how/if the private car in the middle of the UK2000 RAF Shawbury ASP can be removed? I have tried Instant Scenery and excludes in AFX and ADE (AFX is UK2000 original and ADE for a heli overlay by me) but nothing I have tried works. UK2000 no longer support this scenery (payware VFR Airfields for FSX) and have not been able to help.

Many thanks,

Geoff

Geoff im sure i read on the UK2000 website a while back about cars parked in odd places, i think they are set into the main files and cannot be removed, however i will look into this on my setup, only other option would be to add an black alpha to the car texture and hope it makes is transparent.

Much thanks

Geoff,

Give "Remover" by Torsten Wille a try. It's a very old program designed for FS2002 but I know it works at least, in FS9:

Geoff the car is in the EGOS_Obj_FSX.bgl im guessing it was all made as 1 big model containing other objects, therefore it cannot be removed it seems.

Mark, John,

Many thanks for the replies. Yes, that is the culprit! Unfortunately I cannot get Remover to run that .bgl, it just crashes under all compatibility settings. I will try the black alpha on the texture file.

All the best,

Geoff

Can I assume that you have tried a simple exclude for that car?

It's not present in the UK2000 VFR Volume 2 V2 version of EGOS. Is there any way you can get an upgrade to the later scenery?

I think I'm right is saying that excludes work by removing objects in a scenery area below the one in which you want the exclusion. For example, the common practice of an exclude in a custom scenery excluding something from the default scenery below it. Try your ADE exclusion again, but this time, put the file in a separate area above Shawbury and activate both areas.

If that doesn't immediately work, enlarge the exclusion area so it covers all the objects in that .bgl. If as suggested, it's one object, that will at least confirm that the exclusion is working or not. If that does remove the whole lot, narrow the exclusion gradually to see if it is possible to focus on the car.

Further to what John suggests. There is something that can be a bit hit and miss but I have found works.
The individual scenery files are loaded one after the other in alphabetical order, in a folder,. Which is why you will find some files prefixed with '000_' or '0_'. This is so that excludes of default scenery and terrain can be accomplished before anything gets added.

Working on the same principle anything coded with a 'ZZZ_' prefix should be loaded last. So all the scenery should be loaded and then you exclude something that is loaded.

That is the theory and I have had quite a bit of success with it. It goes w/o saying that it must be a separate exclude bgl to work.

This can also be achieved by editing the scenery file (for personal use only) and completely removing the object in question and resaving it. Tried on a few airports, Warton had a static Bae146 (V1 and V2) sitting there which was taking up room, Valley had a car right by the Texan parking, im sure i tried a while back to add an exclusion over the Bae146 but it never worked.

Much thanks

Many thanks for all the responses. Mark's solution resolved the issue and the RAF Shawbury ASP is now clear of private cars.

All the best,

Did you do that in MCX, Geoff?
