I gotta learn to do LODs for my stuff. I just need to sit down and figure it out.

You can do LODs for scenery in FSDS correct??

Thats right mate. LODs was the one big stumbling block that halted my creations for some time, but once you get the hang of it its easy, and it'll be very easy to make the different level models for a small scenery object once you get the hang of it.
Need any help let me know and I'll point you in the right direction if needed.

I guess that is a bit better than a rearward looking vid-cam for parking eh?
Not to mention it must beat the heck out of On-Star.

You need Humvees?? We got Humvees!

Starting to amass a collection. So far have done the basic M1025 version. That's the basic Humvee. I will be doing multiple variations of those from the up armoured versions to those with roof mounted weapon systems and probably will throw the in the version that mounts 8 stinger missles to the back. It will slowly rotate of course looking for enemy AI.

In addition to the basice M1025, in the picture there is the M1035 which is a litter carrier for medivac and then the M1038 which is the soft-skin covered version of the M1025.

Dad-gum, those look so fine. It will be very nice to see a full library of such. Imagine how great sceneries will look!

We need 2.5 ton trucks! I had a driver's license for HMMWVs and 2.5s back in the day. Damn, that was scary.

Yea, I'll eventually get to the "deuce and a half". That and fuel trucks will be next I think. Problem with doing individual scenery objects like these is that you have to texture each one individually which takes me roughly 10 minutes a piece. So it's a bit time consuming. That and making up the texture files takes time. Pain in the arse, but it will be well worth it in the end.

One last one for a while. M997 armored litter carrier.

LODs for scenery were 'broken' in FSDS 3.0, don't know if they were fixed for 3.5.

Do them as long as you are having fun doing them. Once it becmes a chore...ditch the idea.

Well I'm having a blast right now. Not sure my wife appreciates me hogging the desktop computer so much. :P But once you get on a roll you want to keep going.

One thought I had was to create AI versions of some of the vehicles and have them "drive" around on the roads I've created around Pope with the AFCAD file. Now that would be cool.

Also some vehicles "driving" around on the airport itself would be cool.

That would be easily done. Have them start and stop inside a building...or underneath something so that you don't see them "pop" out of or into existence.

Look on fsdeveloper.com theres a discussion on adding them/scenery objects as dynamic scenery.

Yea I could do it that way. I wanna try the AI vehicle thingy first though.

Added a couple more models to the mix today, M997 and M996 armored litter carriers.

Re-worked the paintkit to have much better textures. Panel lines are now accurate and look a whole lot better. Still struggling with creating the standard three color camo textures. But at least the desert tan is easy to do.
