Microsoft Default Scenery

Post by flynby »

Are there any downloads available that would allow a person to view all the default scenery in FS 2004 such as the buildings, ect?
I guess a converter or something that changes all those numbers into a picture.

I noticed no one has answered this topic. I don't have the answer but I think I have seen a scenery builder that has that capability. I may be wrong- I'm definitely not a scenery wizard. Maybe someone else will chime in. :?

I am not aware of anything like this and it strikes me as being so useful that if there was one most people would know about if not using it.

The simple answer to your question is.........no.

Yes that would be a nice utility but to my knowledge no one has done a utility like that.

Now there is a chap named Sidney Schwartz who has picked out most of the default FS9 objects and compiled them into scenery libraries that can be placed with a scenery placement program like EZ Scenery or SBuilder. Back in my early days of scenery design, I was using his libraries. To my knowledge at the time there may have been little bitmap images available for each structure, I don't recall exactly. I remember having to make the images myself since I use SBuilder.

Anyhow, search Sidney Schwartz on Avsim and you will find all of his libraries of objects. Basically he has done the leg work to go through all the different files in the FS9/Scenery folder and pull out the object models.

That's about as close to what you want that I know of.
