RAF Brize Norton

Post by nickblack423 »

Thought I'd give in and put one up on here since no-one has posted here yet. All those who havent seen it yet should check out my scenery of Brize Norton, which although dated now (the basic files were originally created for FS2000 and then FS2002) and it is a little bit of a frame hogger, it is still a great hit on the net. It has been published in PCPilot magazine twice, (FS2002 and FS2004 versions) and I recently updated it with new flightplans for 2006, AI repaints of the VC-10, with model, and Tristar fleet, and Editvoicepack callsigns. The flighplans are based on the actual schedules of the ASCOT routes from BZZ and are very accurate. Anyway, I'll let the scenery do the talking and if you dont have it yet its worth getting. Promise!!!!

Get it from AVSIM filename nb_egvn06.zip

I don't think thats gonna happen, unfortunately. The thing took me about 6 months to build from scratch, then another year of add-ons and updates, and then the rest that fllowed, and my computer crashed last year, wiping all the source files, macro building I had made and everything. To do all that over again, is not appealing in the least, and the added incentive of the fact that at the time I was based there, has gone too, now Im at Coningsby. So sorry to say but I dont think you'll see a FSX version, not unless someone offers me money. I know thats not the spirit, but that is the only way I would do the scenery again, I know Ive learnt things since then that would help make it ten times quicker to do but its a big undertaking. You have to ask yourself is it worth it. I suppose if only one person thinks its awesome and uses it then it is, but my attentions have moved on since then.

do you by any chance still have the source files avalible? Although I like the scenery, I do not like the "Added" things. Id love to see the roads removed and that annoying urban texture that you put to one side of the base. I think that this will actually be able to stand its own in the future. Lukily you put in ground vehicles so it wont seem empty to users of FSX. So good luck and if you can make thase changes (or at least the texture, I dont really care about the road) let me know!

Cough, cough.
Nick currently is temporarily with the mission in Afghanistan (let's hope no more than 4 months).
We all look forward for his safe return from there.

It is still there under the same filename. If you are not getting it try searching on Nick Black.
