Re: Offutt RC-135 Visible until takeoff in P3D
I can confirm I get this effect with the KC-135 and RC-135s at Mildenhall. For me they re-appear well before 10,000feet. A list of AI models off the top of my head that work perfect for me (some with cockpit fixes) in P3D V2/3 are: -KRAI U-2/F-15 -RWAI A-10 -HTAI C-130/F-16 -PSAI C-5 -FMAI Tornados/...

Re: RAF Lakenheath for FSX/P3D
Thank you for the kind words everyone. I'm glad your enjoying the scenery. Regarding Traffic there are two parking files with the scenery, one for the main base which is designed to work with the existing MAIW AI package and the other for Johns Pave Hawks. In fact John made that one when he was test...

Re: Scenery Texture files
That's certainly true for Dxt3 Greg, but the alpha (pure white) was always recommended to be added to Dxt1 textures even if it wasn't needed for transparency. I wish I could remember why. Ian will probably remember when he next comes by. You are correct John. The project was the Lakenheath package ...

Re: RAF Lakenheath for FSX/P3D
A quick update on Lakenheath. The FSX version will be released for Christmas. It is all but finished and I am just testing between now and then. Mainly the parking file as that is not my expertise. The scenery features full custom night lighting etc. The scenery will work in P3D but I cannot get the...

Re: Background texture using ADE
To be honest if the imagery is to be used for Fs9 I wouldn't bother with the hassle. FS9 only displays 4.7m per pixel which is very low resolution and looks poor in my opinion. Creating the tiles is also more time consuming than for FSX onwards. The only way to make it look good is to do it the way ...

Re: MAIW 10 Years and Counting!
I joined the site from the beginning and previously had been on the Fsgateway forum back when the F-16 and C-130 were pretty much the only Military Ai Models available. I actually built my first scenery Spangdahlem when we were using that forum. Although most will know me as being one of the origina...

Re: RAF Lakenheath for FSX/P3D
This looks really fantastic !! On the 'July Community Update' on the MAIW frontpage it says that this scenery is for FS9 as well... It would be even more fantastic if that is true... Is it ? The three possible options you mention for your next possible project all sound great... Mildenhall would be...

Re: RAF Lakenheath for FSX/P3D
Another update on the scenery. Its coming along nicely now, I am aiming for it to be finished by Christmas which gives me a bit of breathing room as there is not that much to do really. I will not be releasing to the large sites when it is finished. Going forward with ACG closed my projects will eit...

Re: RAF Lakenheath for FSX/P3D
I just want to be clear that I was not criticising you, Ian. Quite a few PAYWARE developers do not seem to know how to solve the custom lighting problem in P3D, which is what baffles me. No worries Chris I didn't think you were criticising me. LOL. There are ways to do the lighting. I just couldn't...

Re: RAF Lakenheath for FSX/P3D
Some can yes I am sure, however I don't how to do so and I have already placed all the edge lighting with the original method. I'm not excited about re placing them again despite the fact I use P3d as my main simulator. I think pay ware developers like Gary Summons have no choice but to find a way t...

Re: RAF Lakenheath for FSX/P3D
Thanks . I assume it will as it blends in with Orbx. The only downside/limitation to the P3D version as any custom ground lights will not work.

Re: RAF Lakenheath for FSX/P3D
Any update for this package? I was wondering how close it is to release. Hi Chris All buildings are modelled and textured for the day time. I am currently modelling GSE. Below is a couple of screens of it as it is. http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/9074/l6y7kq77ixvzv0o4g.jpg https://www.mediafire.co...

RAF Lakenheath for FSX/P3D
Hi After a long break I am continuing with this scenery which was under development over at ACG as there was too much work already done to waste it. I also have been fortunate to have Pete Beeby add some nice tweaks to the ground work including seasonal ground textures which blend in perfectly for t...

Nice. Its a shame that there are no aerial images of Hahn on google as it was back then its one base I would like to do one day. On the off chance does anyone have a aerial/satellite image before they converted to the airport.
Cheers

Re: Scenery object optimization for FSX
Any Fs9 model, aircraft or scenery will perform poorly in my opinion when used in FSX. Without a re export of the models using the FSX compiler you will not see your usual FPS figures. I did some testing for this a few weeks back. My test scenery was a complex one, that being RAF Bentwaters which wa...

Re: Scenery object optimization for FSX
Yes both Luke and Nellis both perform well to be fair in either sim on my system. IIt is indeed the AI which has the most impact, due to the sheer volume of aircraft. I can still get smooth FPS though.
