Re: el centro
El Centro used to have quite a bit of FCLP traffic was well. This was back in the days of the F-14's and E-2's at Miramar and the S-3's at North Island. I think the Lemoore F-18's occasionally go there now, along with any of the Marine F-18's from Miramar that go on the boat. In my two tours with F-...

As an ex-Navy F-14 engine mechanic, I SO love seeing these flying around FS. You did a wonderful job on the paints and the flightplans

Re: The "E" on this Hornet
LOL, don't I know it!!! I was in VF-1 right before their last cruise. They were supposed to transition to the F-14D, but when they got back, they got word that they were standing down.

Re: The "E" on this Hornet
Speaking of VFA-115, I noticed that they went back to Atsugi, and VFA-192 came back to Lemoore. Is 192 upgrading to the Super Hornet now?

Re: Retro Phantoms
Love seeing those old Phantoms. When I first got to Miramar in 82, VF-154 and VF-21 still had their Phantoms, and they were about to go on their last cruise on the Coral Sea. Those birds were amazing to look at and watch fly. Although, I really didn't care for them taking my feet out from under me w...

Re: The "E" on this Hornet
VFA-2 won the Battle E for CY 2008 for the Pacific Fleet (not sure who won it for the Atlantic Fleet), thus they are able to sport the E on their aircraft for 2009. This will be removed early this year, unless they win a second E for 2009, in which they would put a hashmark below the E, signifying t...

Re: Which C-17 do you recommend
The problem I am having is when I am making a approach for landing a little movement on the joystick and I darn near flip over. It only does it on this a/c so it puzzles me. Talk about defying the law of physics - OUCH!...I'm totally speechless! :? Wow, I've flown the C-17 from FSD over 400 hrs wor...

There's also one from Alphasim too, but personally, I like flying the FSD one, although I made my won panel for it.

Here's a bit more information on this story, glad someone is finally being held accountable for this. Now, if they would just do the same thing to the people dragging their heels on the tanker stuff

Re: Odd timing situation
I've had this same thing happen to me. I found out that I had planes donig TNG's in their flightplan. I didn't space the TNG apart far enough, For example, I had a plane arriving at a TNG airport at 8:00:00, then leaving at 8:01:00. I found that by spacing the TNG arrival and departures apart by at ...

Re: AIM 9X as a ground attack weapon.
I think the Sidewinder can track just about anything. I was in F-14 squadron on the Kitty Hawk during the '84 cruise, and an Ordinance buddy of mine pulled the cone off of a Winder while we were getting the bird ready for launch, and he said, "Hey, do you feel like your being followed?" I ...

Re: Growler wins against F22!!!
Especially since the Air Force worked so hard to denounce the VFA-11 F/A-18F kill on a Raptor a while back.

I ran into this a few times, and here's how I've tried to narrow down whats going on. I first start FS with the date set to a sunday, time around 1:00am local time. Once you get there, check to see if the aircraft show up. In most cases (for me anyways), the aircraft show up, since the flight plan h...

It's really about time the local governments start working with the military to limit this kind of event. I find it really amazing that people will act like they are completely ignorant to the fact that their is some type of aviation place nearby, until something like this happens. They complain abo...

Yes the Navy still flies the C-9. Currently, there are four squadrons that fly them, VR-46 (NAS Willow Grove, PA), VR-52 (NAS Atlanta, GA), VR-56 NAS Oceana, VA) and VR-61 (NAS Whidbey Island, WA). VR-57 (NAS North Island, CA), VR-58 (NAS Fort Worth, TX) and VR-59 NAS Jacksonville, FL) fly the C-40 ...
