Re: B-47 Stratojet
John Stintrom's Loring uses some of his own FS9 libraries that might not compatible with P3Dv4. I would have thought Macdill would have worked better, but there are clearly some objects still in FS9 format. Since I don't have the source files from the original authors and a few hundred hours to spar...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)
Thanks Giorgio. I don't know what happened there but my search of "Lamoore" in the Download Hangar a few days ago didn't return anything. This afternoon I tried it and it found two sceneries. Perhaps the search engine only works at weekends! Well that's my excuse. John PS: stupid spelling ...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)
It’s been an intensive week, with a host of small, but time consuming changes to the “C” models following Hartwig’s tests at Pax River. These have all been completed and have been sent back to Pax. Steve has also been busy with the Carrier FDE for the “C”. He’s managed to get the models to take-off ...

Re: B-47 Stratojet
The only buildings I can see at Macdill are some of those that I custom made, plus the trees. None of the library objects are appearing. I can't see any buildings at all Loring.

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)
Hill has F-35A's I think Jamie. I haven't even started that model and won't do so until the B's and C's are all done for all 3 sims. I haven't researched "A" paints yet, but it's quite possible I can include Hill examples. Mike is right though, there's a limit that my brain can cope with a...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)
I'm not debating it now, but it is an option for the future. The idea of not having to apply a few hundred animation/visibility tags through the LODs for each FSX model is really tempting. It's tedious but it would only save about 8 hours work.

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)
Thanks for that. I get the gist, but it would be helpful if I could read the graph legends. Not for debate in this thread, but the news is tempting me to re-think what I build for in the future: FS9 - because people are still wedded to it and a single LOD conversion for P3Dv4. Forget about FSX and m...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)
I managed to get the LODs and the paints done for the FS9 F-35C's this week. The 4 aircraft of VX-23 have gone to Hartwig for inclusion in his Pax River scenery as stable mates to the 5 "B's" previously provided. 16 "C's" have also been painted for VMA-101 at Eglin. Jamie is kind...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)
Yes I've read that too and I can tell with my own installation that AI copes better in P3Dv4 than any other sim version. We discovered back in the ACG days with scenery, following a Microsoft article on the subject, that indeed polygons don't matter, but as you say, draw calls and with them, the num...

That works well with the "C" - at least it will with a better FDE:

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)
Thanks Giorgio, apologies, but I obviously didn't have my brain in gear after a long day. Steve kindly put a copy of Carr2006.zip in my folder and I've just set it up. Nimitz is located in the package way over in the Sea of Japan (might be useful for the USMC "B's" at Iwakuni), but USS JFK...

Re: B-36 Peacemaker
OK found the problem. I was looking at the Carswell Circa 1953 scenery (for the B-36s) the subject of the thread. That has no trees on the taxiway. However, Carswell Circa 1962, which is for the Hustlers, does. I think I must have used the same exclude file, but in fact the latter scenery has a runw...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)
Sorry, but I can't find car2006.zip Giorgio. I found what could be an FSX carrier in some Pensacola scenery, but that may or may not work in FS9 depending on what compiler was used. I don't yet have the F-35C's in FSX format yet to test for that sim version. I won't in any case have a licence to con...

Re: B-36 Peacemaker
You did install the FSX version, not the FS9 one? You should have 6 files in the scenery folder. KNFW_ADEX_JY_CVX.bgl is the file that removes the default objects, including the trees. I've just re-checked my installation and I have no trees on the taxiways. There are some trees that surround some a...

Which airfield is that and did you follow the instructions on pages 6 and 8 of the manual for installing the FSX scenery for the aircraft?

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)
The other thing we need to do is check the FDE for the carrier version of the F-35C to launch from a Nimitz-class deck and recover with an arrested landing. Does anyone know if there Is a static Nimitz or similar out there that is set up for AI traffic that I could start with please? I now have 3 &q...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)
I was asked if I could make the two Queen Elizabeth Class carriers Giorgio and have the UK F-35B's fly from them. I can do that based on what Mike M and I did with HMS Ark Royal and HMS Ocean with Sea Harriers: https://i.imgur.com/hm7FYQZ.jpg We just need to get all the F-35 packages in all 3 sim ve...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)
It’s been a busy week for people involved with the F-35 project. I currently have 4 F-35B base models for different FDEs – STOVL, SRVL (shipboard), Conventional and VTOL, the first 3 also having clean and external stores options. I also have the first LOD of the F-35C done and painted. The “Cs” will...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)
Significant progress this week. I added the taxi and landing lights to all the F-35B models, including those with the animated lift: https://i.imgur.com/FfLiQSY.jpg https://i.imgur.com/AP3x19W.jpg Unfortunately there is no way to add navigation lights to those models featuring the lift. The effect f...
