Re: JYAI P-8 Poseidon and B-737 AEW&C
Partly Miljan. I started with my normal 20-sided cylinder for the fuselage, but I wasn't happy with the smoothing, so I increased it to 24 sides in LOD_400 with 1296 polygons (excluding the wing root) and that made all the difference. The small antennas take 306 polys. The biggest chuck however, aft...

Re: JY Osprey at Mildenhall v2 in FSX
What you are describing hobby rather convinces me that you have a mix of FS9 and FSX traffic files in your FSX installation. I've seen the problem so many times before. If the MAIW scenery is live and the aircraft are installed and you have 100 per cent FSX traffic files for the Ospreys, the MAIW C-...

Re: JYAI P-8 Poseidon and B-737 AEW&C
Miljan, the poly count for the AEW&C (mesh triangles) is:
LOD_400: 9891
LOD_200: 8541
LOD_100: 7153
LOD_70: 4873
LOD_40: 3316
LOD_20: 1667
LOD_10: 76
The front end is a bit high, but the detail diminishes through the LODs quite rapidly at close range.

Mike, I'm assuming Hartwig will make some flight plans too, but he's travelling at the moment so I can't really check. Perhaps I can come back to you if some are needed.
John, those hangars look good.

Re: P-3 Orion on the way out, need the P-8
I’ve just PM’d/e-mailed links to the Poseidon and Wedgetail models to those people here that have kindly offered/are already making AFCADS and flightplans to accommodate the aircraft. I think I’ve included everyone, but just to be sure, here’s a summary of what I think is the situation: POSEIDONS: D...

Re: 'HELL'-enic Intrigue
My current PC had exactly the same problem when it was delivered over-clocked a few years ago. My supplier told me that some old games just don't like over-clocking, as Steve is suggesting. They gave me the settings and the process for reverting the BIOS to an un-clocked state and having done that, ...

Re: JY Osprey at Mildenhall v2 in FSX
if you have installed the FSX formatted traffic files in the Osprey package hobby and you can't see any AI at all at Mildenhall, chances are that you have a rogue FS9-formatted traffic file covering the catchment area. That will effectively kill all FSX AI in the area. I would suggest a scan of your...

Thanks Gary. Radius is 65ft, MIL_COMBAT. Parking code is AEW (same for all 3 Air Forces) but I can change that if you prefer something else.

Re: P-3 Orion on the way out, need the P-8
The Wedegetails for the RAAF are done for FS9 and FSX, as are the Peace Eyes's for The ROK and the Peace Eagles for the Turkish Air Force. The following screen shots are in FSX (with Rex4 Texture Direct + Soft Clouds): RAAF http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/ss323/Bitmap512/Poseidon%20and%20Wedgetai...

Re: Osprey updates
So long as the aircraft entries are copied over from the 4 individual files to the common aircraft.cfg file, you should be fine. Each entry will carry with it the intended "Sim=" entry, ie, "V-22" or "V-22_long_roll".

Re: Ten for Ten Part 3: USMC Ospreys
Hats off to Giorgio - I believe he has put his finger on why some of the Ospreys were crashing on approach to Mirarmar. I couldn’t see the problem at all when I was building the aircraft or in my tests because my frame rate of 30 fps was hiding it. What I did last night was to set it to just 14 fps ...

Re: P-3 Orion on the way out, need the P-8
I'm not familiar with Pax River Steve and all I asked for was for the existing AFCAD and flight plans to be updated as necessary to accommodate the new Poseidons. From what I've learned since, the scenery needs updating physically and I think Mike G was planning on doing something in response to a r...

Re: P-3 Orion on the way out, need the P-8
Thanks Mike. Hartwig has just shown me some design work that he has been doing for some time on Pax River. It was originally intended for his personal use and is about 80% complete. He's just sent me some screen shots and it looks very good. I'll put a few in a PM to you and Des tomorrow for you to ...

Almost missed that John, but the ICAO code rang a bell LOL.
Are you starting from scratch or are you building on the Kaspar Larsen work, ie will you need his permission to provide the new offering?

Re: Ten for Ten Part 3: USMC Ospreys
Jim, what frame rate are you experiencing at Miramar when the crashes occur? It was Giorgio, I think, some years back spotted a similar problem at Duxford. In that case, his frame rate was quite low compared to mine. If the frame rate is high it tends to smooth out any oscillations in the approach. ...

Re: P-3 Orion on the way out, need the P-8
I've now finished 61 Poseidons in both FS9 and FSX native code. We just need the AFCADs and flight plans to bring them to life. 6 aircraft are destined for Patuxant River (VX-1 and VX-20) and 28 at Jacksonville (VX-10, VX-16, VX-26, VX-30 and VX-45). Des has kindly agreed to update the existing MAIW...
