Re: Mr Shiny
Mr Sheen, you definately have an alpha layer on the main texture. Look at the propellors and they are fine. I do not know what program you are using to compile the paint with but look at the settings and see if there is some default alpha layer setting set. You might see the alpha layer by opening/r...

That lot a Lemoore must have the busiest paint shop in the USN. You dont know how much they're annoying me..... Mark Annoying you. There annoying me doubly. One I have to paint the bl**dy thing and if I am not quick enough, two you start annoying me about where the paint is :smt064 I think it says ...

Re: 37th AS - Ramstein C-130J
Scramble.nl is a good place to start, go into the countries Order of Battle page and find the squadron you are interested in. Wikipedia is also quite good as well as people add bits to it. Modelling decals is another source, not good enough to use but a good guide for you to "trace" around...

Re: CAF 2009 Century of Canadian Flight CF-188
This is the problem with painting AI. In general the modeller is limited to one bmp to save computer resources and memory. Even worse for Military AI as he must include seperate left and right wings as the markings are not always the same. The only way I can think to improve the front problem would ...

French Mirage's textures for FSX users
As FSX users know the textures with the French Mirage packages do not work with FSX. With the help of Martin from The Owls Nest I have produced an alternative set of textures for FSX users. One proviso is that these have not been through the check process we use at MAIW so any problems please report...

Re: MAIW Mirage 2000C Dijon-Longvic FSX cockpit glass UPDATE
Not having FSX I did not realise this was a problem. I have added the fix to a texture but it affects the canopy in FS9 so I will need to produce seperate textures for FSX. Could a FSX user try out the following to see if it works. I have made the missiles, pylons and drop tanks invisible as well so...

Re: Fernado's mirage
Most model makers by default make the alpha channel to be used as a reflective surface. The exception is Craig Ritchie. If you look at the Aardvark and Fruit Stand aircraft they have specific relective models. With Fernando's Mirages we were just lucky that he had not done that and I was able to bre...

Re: Highway Strip
It is a long time since I have done this but in AFCAD you make a narrow invisible runway to match the road with no markings or lights. If you want to use AI then you will have to add taxiways and parking. I am sure somebody with more expertise can jump in here and add more detail.

Re: Fernado's mirage
Also there only seems to be two models in the aircraft folder and in the folder from MAIW, So how do you get the other models? I was able to produce the "other models" by using the alpha channel of the texture. Basically I have made some parts invisible, the weapons, the drop tank(s) and ...

Re: Disappearing Textures
If you need to save the texture with a plain Alpha Channel you need to make an all white bitmap the same size as the main texture, normaly 1024 x 1024. In DXTBmp after you have opened the texture you need to import the plain bitmap by using menu Alpha\Import Alpha Channel and then locate your plain ...

Re: Need help from Graham King
The E-2C is still being worked on. I found some updated paints for the F-2 for a project that never saw the light of day. You can download 72 paints here . (10.24 Mb) You will probably need to go through the paints and change some of the models. My paint process cycles through all the models so I ca...

Attached to this post is an updated traffic bgl file with the 2 aircraft changed to the names I used in the AVSIM file. I hope it works so keep a copy of the original before you replace it.

Yes, you need a program that has layers. Paint Shop or Photo Shop and I believe Gimp which is free will work as well.

I have not done that for 3 years, and upload to AVSIM. It just seemed the easiest way to distribute it amongst you all.

Re: Question reference a Dyess C-130J repaint
If you look at Henry's original paint kit he included all 3 models in the same texture, excluding the -30's. I have come around to Henry's thinking and my master C-130 template includes all 3 models. The 2 main differences for me are the propellors and the cooling intake duct on the forward RH fusel...

Re: Odd Problem
Grape, final thought, I would set Windows to always open .cfg files with Notepad, unless this buggers something else you open .cfg files with. In Explorer right click an aircraft.cfg files and select "open with". In the dialog box that comes up, near the bottom is a check box that starts &...

Re: Odd Problem
The reason is probably in the aircraft.cfg. Check in particular the sim, model and texture entries are correct.
What is the "par" in the list?

Re: Can't get cannopies to show up
The canopy reflection is part of the model and not the texture. The alpha channel on my paints was used for the chrome of the landing gear oleo and the exhaust door of the APU.

Re: Henry Tomkiewicz C-130 Propellors Automatic Update
Gary pointed out that with the newer textures they also require an additional entry in the aircraft.cfg, prop_anim_ratio=-0.12. I have updated the program to add this entry as it copies the textures. The file is here www.king.eclipse.co.uk/Packages/MAIW C-130 Propellors.zip If you have already repla...
