Re: Lossiemouth and Brize Norton Projects
Yes, that’s the one. Given the forecast, I expect there will be a lot more damage before they can get up top to fix it.

Re: Lossiemouth and Brize Norton Projects
Dunno. There's a vid on Facebook among my RAF mates. It looks pretty horrific, actually. Lots of debris.

Re: Lossiemouth and Brize Norton Projects
Might have to do an update to Brize: most of the roof of the A400 hangar has blown away this morning!

Re: Prepar3d V5 Default KRND Update
If you're using the 'default' KRND, which is a scenery enhancement made by Orbx for LM included in the vanilla installation, even with a replaced AFD there should be no elevation problems. I've found all sorts of elevation problems at other airfields, but usually running them through ADE 1.79, impor...

Re: FSX users help
Just to add that the best way to get the best graphics card you can afford is via one of the big computer assemblers/retailers. They pay the GPU manufacturers the wholesale price, and aren't gouging in the way the resellers are. At the moment, it's possible to find complete high-end computers runnin...

Re: FSX users help
Blimey. I would say that any pretty basic computer made in the last couple of years should run FSX without any issues. If you have lots of addons, your problem will be more with the limitations of FSX than with the computer, unless the machine you're using is fairly old. I used to run FSX useably we...

Re: Prepar3d V5 Default KRND Update
You don't want to update the stock airport. To update the P3Dv5 base AFD that goes with the photoreal background and Orbx-made buildings, you need to replace KRND_ADEP5_ADE.bgl which is in \Scenery\Cities\KRND_Randolph_AFB\Scenery. Edit: just to add that I used a modified version of the John Stinstr...

Re: JY Hunter single-seat FSX model
You may be right, Steve. We knew that 2TWU was going to move down to Chiv once the airfield had been refurbished. I think that happened at the end of 1980, after 2 years at Lossie, and of course it transferred to the Hawk. Couple of interesting photos here: https://www.fightercontrol.co.uk/forum/vie...

Re: JY Hunter single-seat FSX model
Of course. There was quite a lot of aircraft swapping with 1TWU at Brawdy. Other than the fact that no F6s ever came north, it’s quite likely that many serials would have done time at both TWUs - and also on 45/58 Sqns at Wittering (up to 1976). I’m not sure why they decided not to give 2 TWU any sh...

Nice little aeroplane, and it looks great in the pictures John. That solid canopy top would have annoyed the hell out of me though!

Re: JY Hunter single-seat FSX model
Hi John these are the serials of the Hunters I flew at 2 TWU in late 1979. FGA9 XE552 XE597 XE624 XE649 XF419 XF431 XF445 XF476 XF511 XG207 XG291 XK138 T7/8 XF310 XL569 XL572 XL576 XL593 XL595 XL618 XL619 XX466 We recorded all 2-seaters as T7s. XX466 had been a Saudi and Jordanian T70, hence the out...

It's also worth stating which version of MCX you're using. The latest 'stable' version, or the latest development version? Or some other? Arno doesn't make it easy to be certain which you have, but the version number and date will help.

Re: JY Hunter single-seat FSX model
Let me trawl my logbook, John. There were, if I remember rightly, a massive 36 aircraft on 2TWU, and I didn’t fly all of them by any means. All the single seaters were FGA9s, but the T-birds were a mix of T7s and T8s of various provenances. In my time, none of them had any unit markings as 2TWU didn...

Re: Many military airports covered with Navigraph
Airnav.com will give you access to download free Jeppessen charts for many, many airfields - though mostly US. No subs, no sign-up, you just need to know where to look. Littlenavmap is great for seeing if your airfield’s location is accurate, though I wouldn’t regard its depicted airfield layout as ...

Re: JY Hunter single-seat FSX model
It would be great to see some 2k or even 4k textures for these lovely aircraft; some of the older ones are a bit 'fuzzy' in P3D. I'm rubbish at aircraft painting, but I might have a go if I can find some time. I need to do the 2TWU FGA9s that I flew at Lossiemouth in 1979!

Re: JY Hunter single-seat FSX model
Yes they will, but you're best off converting them to DDS using DXT Bitmap (https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/2883/dxtbmp-dxt-extended-bitmap-editor/). If you're using P3Dv5.2 or later you may need to run the models through MCX to update them to P3Dv4.4 format. I was playing about with H...

I've done it (for my Finningley 1990), and it worked fine*. I haven't checked if they work in P3Dv5 (I don't use v4 any more), but there's no reason why they shouldn't. It was a matter of a few seconds' work in MCX, and I didn't have to muck around with any of the animations. *Although, looking at t...

Re: changing atc type
Do you have Martin's AI Editor Dot NET? That will pick up any errors in the aircraft's cfg. Quite often, AI models are missing the Radio section, and AIE will pick this up and ask you if you want it to include it. Say 'yes', and it sorts it out. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the problem.

You must have a Program data folder, but you need to activate 'view hidden files and folders' to see it.tornado3367 wrote: ↑01 Feb 2022, 17:52 i cant seem to find it manfred. ive also tried to create an xml folder but no luck. i think its because i have not got a program data folder ive only got a program files x86 folder
