MAIW NBAI McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet Family Conversion Support

Post by gsnde »

Post support related comments for the MAIW NBAI McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet Family Conversion package in this thread.

This is the land-based version with start and landing adjusted for airfields and folding wings. The title has changed for those who want to use the package parallel to the old non-folding version. If you plan to replace the the old version, you will find an alternative "Aircraft(old-title).cfg" file which you have to rename in order to use the original titles.
Cheers,
Martin

Anyone else having this problem?

When unpacking the files using Winrar I get a error message saying that some files are corrupted? When looking at the extracted files I see that both the aircraft.CFG and Aircraft(old-title).CFG haven't been extracted.

I have downloaded the package and confirm that none of the files unpack. They all fail with error 80004005 which relates to them being packed with a version of packer that is not compatible with the unpacker.

I only use windows for zip/unzip, for compatibility sake. So anybody using only windows will have this problem.

For the sake of completeness, I used my old version of winrar to unpack and this confirmed that the archive is corrupt.

I really would suggest that for ease of consumer use archives should only be created using the default Windows compressed file archive.
Far less problems arise that way.

Was done with Windows compress to zip. Likely got screwed during upload. I redo.

Thanks, Martin. Must have been a weird night for your system for it to get that error.

Hey everybody, I'm trying to get some Legacy & Super Hornets flying around in FSX, But Both aircraft are invisible in FSX.
https://militaryaiworks.com/download-ha ... conversion
https://militaryaiworks.com/download-ha ... nversion-2
Are they P3D Exclusive? Both says "Compatibility: FSX/P3Dv4" But the downloaded files themselves are all called P3D.
Any Idea what im doing wrong here? Thanks.

These new packages are P3d only not FSX... Hopefully the previous NBAI conversions done by Henk Schuitemaker MAIW NBAI McDonnell Douglas FA-18 Hornet Family - FSX Pack-1 V.1.0.zip are still available; as while these two new packages were designed to supplement the previously converted models by adding new functionality (carrier and additional folding wing models) they were NOT designed or intended to replace them....

Let me check if autofill played havoc with me when filling the forms. If so, the same is wrong with the other latest uploads as well.

The compatibility settings for the last ~20 conversions were all wrong but are now fixed.

Thanks Martin! You may also want to verify that the previous pack "MAIW NBAI McDonnell Douglas FA-18 Hornet Family - FSX Pack-1 V.1.0.zip" is still up as I do not see it in the conversions section of the library at the moment...

That I don’t need to do because I don’t remove alternative conversions. I only make errors adding new ones ;-)

Just wanted to confirm the latest v1.1 (P3D) is supposed to have all model folders showing "folding wings" and a carrier airfile for the land versions?

I screwed up here, sorry. Good catch!

The upload has been fixed, for those who have downloaded it already here is the right air file and aircraft.cfg.

So for my packages I never did any non-folding wing models; as I figured that would be redundant to the FSX conversions already released by Henk Schuitemaker... There are three versions I did:

1. Folding wings land - no hook or launch bar animations uses the regular FDE, just provides an alternative to the non-folding wing land models if you want it...

2. FCLP - folding wings and working hook

3. Carrier versions- Folding wings, animated launch bar that extends on takeoff, and working hook.

Hope that answers the question...
