Re: AI Aircraft Editor Version 4.2.1 released
There is nothing I can do about it, Geoff. Since I code the tool, I know that it is full of bugs, but no virus…
Either your AV tool has the option to let you tell it it’s ok,or you must provide it to your AV application vendor as a false positive.
Send from mobile hence short

Yes, sure. If you get an annoncement via the internal Updater, that is legit.

Re: AI Aircraft Editor Version 4.2.1 released
Hello Martin,
Hopefully the worst of the bug-chasing is over by now, and I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that your hard work is really appreciated.
I have come across something odd, that started when v. 4 came out, and persists with v. 4.3.4.
On the status bar, FSX is in red. I have not had FSX on this system for years, so that puzzles me some. And the fun part is that I had FSX:SE installed just a few days ago, uninstalled it again, and no trace of that on the status bar. So there could be something lurking in the far depths on my system from the old FSX, or we could be looking at a bug.
This is definitely not a show-stopper in any way shape or form, just puzzling.
I am attaching a screenshot of this.
And a Happy Easter to all -
Jorgen

The fact that you said that you haven't had it for years leads me to believe that you still have some part of it left in the registry.
Do a quick check using regedit.
If you go to 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator' and see if there is a 10.0 folder there.
If so you can select it and delete it.

My Dear Sir,
You hit the nail exactly on its head. There was indeed a folder there titled 10.0, which my registry cleaner had not caught.
I deleted that and everything is now OK.
Thank you -
Jorgen

Re: AI Aircraft Editor Version 4.2.1 released
Hi Martin
I have tried to send this twice via PM but for some reason it just sticks in my "Outbox"
I have found a small bug in AIAE
WHEN Installing a new paint I regularly miss spell a word when I amend the texture line of the [Flightsim.xx] entry (Nothing new there). The problem comes when I use AIAE to correct the line using the texture drop down under Aircraft.cfg.
Example I insert:
"Texture.Aeio Air/N117AA" and save it. it of course should read "Aero Air/N177AA" When I select the correct texture from the drop-down menu and save it the "AC Status: NOK" remains red and when opening the Aircraft.cfg file the following is found:
texture=Texture.Aero Air\N117AA
As you see the system seems to add in an extra "Texture." that can only be removed by editing the Aircraft.cfg directly. After a couple of tests it only seems to happen when using sub-folders.
Hope the above makes sense
V.4.3.4.0
Win11
P3Dv4.5
Regards

Re: AI Aircraft Editor Version 4.2.1 released
I used Model Converter X v. 1.6 to convert the GAI DHC-4 Caribou, which I found for FS9 on Flightsim.com, to P3D. I only converted the model with MCX, the bmp textures I had for FS9 I converted to dds with the bmp2dds tool. I checked the converted aircraft out in AIAE v. 4.3.4.0, which did not find any errors.
Now, when I put the converted aircraft into P3D v. 5.4, AIFP v. 3.4.3.15 told me all the repaints were missing from the flightplans. After some troubleshooting the issue, with the much-appreciated assistance from Jon and Gavin here and Greg Peters from AIG, was narrowed down to the aircraft.cfg file. Greg and Gavin graciously provided their files, which made the aircraft work as intended.
I looked over the files myself, but couldn't see anything that really would/should (with my lack of experience in this) cause the issue. So I am attaching the original non-working aircraft.cfg as well as those from Greg and Gavin to see if you maybe can make sense of them and (again maybe) incorporate a check of some sorts in a future version of AIAE.
Have fun -

Re: AI Aircraft Editor Version 4.2.1 released
Martin, I may have discovered "something" in AIAE 4.3.4.0, but I don't know if this is something serious.
When the [fltsim.x] entries are in sequence, but there are gaps in the sequence, the status items on the bottom of the screen are all green, but when I then hit the "Show Aircraft Errors" button, it says that the numbers are not in sequence and I should consider renumbering.
So, first of all, are the gaps acceptable to FS9/FSX/P3D and will the aircraft show? If not, then I think the status item for the sim in question should go to red.
Second, if I choose to renumber, AIAE tells me the entries are renumbered, but in fact they are not. I have to introduce an out-of-sequence number or non-numeric character to force the renumbering to work.
This is reproducable for any and all aircraft in my aircraft library.
Jorgen

Re: AI Aircraft Editor Version 4.2.1 released
Another thing, Martin, but definitely something not a showstopper.
In another thread in these hallowed halls I asked what the [Airwrench] section in aircraft.cfg does. Firebird replied that this section is left behind if the aircraft.cfg is modified by Airwrench, but the section does nothing.
Could AIAE maybe be set to remove this section if desired, in the same way as the comments?

I will add that to the removable section (Tab 2, sections/effects). Next Update, likely this weekend

Re: AI Aircraft Editor Version 4.2.1 released
Martin, I checked out the new version quickly.
Duplicate fltsim.x numbers are detected as before, and gaps in the sequence is detected and marked in red at the bottom.
But on renumbering the example with the gap in the sequence, AIAE moved the fltsim.x entries from the end of the aircraft.cfg file, where I personally prefer to have them, to the beginning of the file. Can that be changed, so they are left where the user has them?
Then I checked the Model Viewer tab with a couple of aircraft I have converted myself from FS9 to P3D, using MCX v. 1.6.0.0.
The Druine Turbulent showed up fine, but the PZL Dromader crashed AIAE as in the attached screenshot, and I have to use Task Manager to exit AIAE.
Now, I am completely inexperienced in the art of converting, so I evidently did something to the Dromader that it didn't like. Would that maybe be improved if I used the beta MCX?
Jorgen

Re: AI Aircraft Editor Version 4.2.1 released
Does the Dromader appear and operate as an AI aircraft in the sim?
This would be the only reason that you should then look for an issue with AIAE coping with it. If it doesn't work in sim then there is a grave risk of AIAE not coping with it.
Now on MCX itself then absolutely you should be using the latest beta. I don't think that MCX has been updated for several years but the beta has at least 10 updates a year.
You are so far behind by using 1.6.

Re: AI Aircraft Editor Version 4.2.1 released
Hi Jorgen,
Having the [fltsim.x] sections not on top the aircraft.cfg was never something AIAE had in scope. If that has worked so far, then because of a bug in my code that I have correct with this last version.
Now that you asked, I have put it on my wish list. But it might take a while before this is implemented.
Since this version of AIAE is using the latest development DLLs from MCX my bet is that it will crash MCX as well - can you test this, please?
Please also provide me with the converted aircraft, so that I can replicate and find a gentle way for AIAE to deal with the error instead of freezing.
