Look the part for sure, love the weathering. Still testing the latest Bone and Hornets in P3Dv5, need to check the Euro F-18 users.

Thank you for the packages. I downloaded them but didn't install them yet. I have a question about the Finland Hornets. The cfg files says to use the regular C and D models, but there is specific Finland C and D models. Can I use those models with these paints? I think those would be more accurate.

Yes, all the models use the same texture set so they should work...

Yes, as Jetpilot1980 says, they will work…it’s the NBAI models that won’t work (as opposed to these NBGAI models) as they use a slightly different texture sheet. These have a larger fin texture area which makes for more detailed paints without the need to go to 2048px.

Enjoy.

Hence the reason I made both sets of models.... I realized that the NBGAI models were much nicer moving exhausts; ailerons and airbrakes... But most of the old repaints for the USN / USMC / Euro ect would end up lost to the ages as those were made only for NBAI and not NBGAI compatible; and the NBGAI textures are not NBAI compatible... Also; the aft fuselage was reshaped on the NBGAI models so the moving exhausts do not fit the NBAI models nor do the airbrake parts... So I made the best final renditions of the NBAI series I could make and animated the exhausts updated the aileron and elevon animations and some other tweaks such as updated launch animation .xml coding; slimes (both Legacy and Super/Growler); but then proceeded to make a new series based on the NBGAI models with all the features and the sets that I previously made for NBAI (land, FW land, Hook only, and Carrier), in hopes that some re-painters would take a liking to these new models and take things forward... Guess my plan is working... Also in the release queue on my end:

1. Tomcats V4 - These will have moving exhausts; object based slimes; new carrier launch .xml coding; brighter AB effects; new elevon coding

2. Carrier and Folding wings land based versions of the NBAI Phantoms and yes the British Carrier Ks have the double oleo extension modeled...

Chrystal clear now gents and thanks for the update explanation as I was also scratching my head. I quickly download any updates of the Hornets and noticed I had "stored" the NBGAI models in the RAAF package as they retired IRL or went to Canada.

Thanks for the NBAI/NBGAI explanation, I'll see if I can make sense of installing the correct repaints to the correct models

Thanks for the explanation. I had the wrong base model, I had the NBAI model and didn't realize the Finland paints were for the NBGAI model. (there is still a Finland specific model for the NBGAI base model)

The easiest way to make sense of it is to look at the file names:

The NBGAI model uses the name (regardless of A,B,C or D):

GAI_NBAI_FA-18AB_Hornet_T.dds

Versus the NBAI model (regardless of A,B,C or D):

NBAI_FA-18CD_Hornet_T.dds

If you do choose to look at the textures here are the key differences between the paint kits (note the additional portion for the upper aft fuselage / airbrake on the GAI kit; and the respective positions of the vertical stabilizers and horizontal stabilators):

NBGAI:

NBAI:
