Have you looked into the USS Enterprise, available here:

https://www.simshack.net/manufacturers/team-sdb-57

I know it's payware, and I don't have it, but maybe worth looking into.

While we are aware of it... There isn't much point as it would not be able to be shared here... Or option B is to provide people instructions on how to make it into a scenery lib object .bgl file and place it on their own system once they have individually purchased it... But I am not sure that the latter would be a good idea as it would probably just open up the door to a lot of people screaming for tech support... Especially if they are not familiar with MCX, and or blender... and how to structure scenery object libs...

I seem to have run into a spot of bother installing V2 of the package (never installed V1) into my version of P3Dv4.5. Below is what the Nimitz looks like:

Fine from a distance :

Pops up on a plateau:

Back down, but still raised up a bit (if AI was on board it would be below deck level), and has water issue:

Now, as far as I can tell, I have entered the scenery in the correct order as per the readme:

(NB, since taking the screenshot all of my Orbx packages have been uninstalled).

I have also not edited any of the files (though I haven't installed all of the carriers as my sim is set in the present-day). Clearly, this is not an issue others have, so have I done something silly or should I reinstall P3D from scratch and hope for the best?

hmmm that is an odd issue... Usually when that occurs it is due to an issue with the scenery library priority... The package is divided into several parts as you know. The flatten and exclude (CVX) afcads ; the carrier afcads and traffic files; the Kitty Hawk lib; Nimitz lib; battle group ships lib and waypoints. Admittedly I have been in V5 for a long time now Dan is the V4 user of the two of us... But that being said looking at my own library order (priority top down):

1. Waypoints
2. Flatten and exclude files (must be kept together)
3. Kitty Hawk lib
4. Battle group ships lib
5. Nimitz lib
6. Carrier ADEs and traffic files

Historically when I have seen these types of issues it has usually been caused by people either putting all the files in a single folder; out of order (in scenery library; separating files that need to be together ect... ) As you can see it looks fine on my system... That being said the one thing your screenshot did alert me to is the "69" on the deck as opposed to the "68" realized the AI model ship that I used to make this from had that issue as well... a fix has been sent to Martin... and good news is I only had to fix it in two places on my own system...

While this has been asked many times... No Dan and I only made this package for P3d... as we are both P3D users him V4 and myself V5... Honestly I can't remember the last time I used FSX... Maybe 10 years??? Also, I only made all my (originally from NB non carrier and not animated to do as such) carrier aircraft for P3d... But that being said if you were so inclined recompiling my afcads; and all the carrier aircraft in FSX format theoretically would not be that hard to do...

Also if anyone wants the Nimitz quick fix here it is... Just copy and replace this into the Nimitz class library \ Scenery folder....

Well I decided to bite the bullet and begin the process of switching my AI to P3Dv5, since v4 has been acting up in other ways as well.

All I can say is that I'm glad I did!
