NAF Atsugi, spring/summer 2011

After the earthquake and tsunami in March the carrier air wing was relocated to Guam, where they stayed until late April. Of course I couldn't resist making a few trips there to see the action, even though the weather wasn't always cooperating. Hope you'll enjoy these few shots.

C-40A Clipper, complete with winglets (166693)
No Atsugi photo set would be complete without a JMSDF P-3C Orion (5060). Some Orions are now starting to lose the squadron numbers on the tail, this one still has it.
JASDF C-130H Hercules (85-1086). JASDF flies a daily, mid-afternoon run to Atsugi.
VFA-115 CAG with "100 Years of Naval Aviation" markings (166859/NF-300)
VFA-27 CAG has lost it's shark mouth (165860/NF-200)
Chippy Ho! VFA-195 returned back from Lemoore with their new F/A-18E jets about a month ago. All of CVW-5's Strike Fighter Squadrons are now equipped with Super Bugs. No luck in catching their CAG jet yet. (166908/NF-405)

Need gas? F/A-18E in tanker load out: refueling pod + four wing tanks (166869/NF-311)
Diamondbacks are celebrating the Centennial of Naval Aviation with a F/A-18F in retro colors. The scheme resembles the one they used in their F-4 Phantoms. (166917/NF-102)
VRC-30 Detachment 5 swapped their C-2A Greyhounds with USS Ronald Reagan (162166/NF-31)
Saab 340B of Japan Coast Guard (JA8951)
US Marine Corps from Iwakuni with their new UC-12W (168206)
Navy C-130T Hercules in the new color scheme (165349/RU-349)
