FSDS Modeling Tutorial Series: Texturing Basics Part 7

Post by MIKE JG »

This video is the seventh in our series on texturing. This video makes use of the example hangar that we built in this lesson: http://www.militaryaiworks.com/newforum ... =33&t=8348

The FSDS source file for that hangar is available in lesson 6 of this series. In this final lesson, we add an interior to our hangar using some time saving techniques and introduce a second texture to create the hangar's interior sections.

I got a little carried away with this one and I tried something a bit different to record it. The result is that in parts, the audio is choppy.

This video is approximately 60 minutes long.

Please post any questions or comments you may have about this tutorial in this thread.

Note: To follow along with this video you will need to download this sample texture file "Tutorial_Hangar_interior.bmp". Place this texture file inside your FS9/Texture folder.

Hi Mike,

I was watching this one this morning andsaw that when you were texturing the floor you cut it into 4 and then copy and pasted it to make the entire floor. You did this so that the texture didnt look stretched but could you not have just used the tile feature? Just wondering? Because you said in your video that it looked like there might have been some gaps and in the vid you couldn't get them to close up.

Kind Regards
Dale

IF, and again I say IF the sample texture is stretched completely across the x axis, then yes you could use tiling in the x axis. I can't remember what that texture sheet looks like but I don't think that concrete floor section was stretched across the whole sheet, therefore I couldn't tile with it.
