Zero FPS!!!

I have always been able to run a fully maxed out setting fs9 with lots of addons. As of recently within 5 minutes of being at any airport I go from 25 fps to 0. Infact my whole pc comes to a crawl. I check my ram usage and its only at 2.5 of 6gb being used and my quad core isn't even maxed out. Am I losing my graphics card? I have done a fresh defrag to see if it helps but nothing :( No idea what it could be.

That used to happen to me when my Graphic Card was getting to hot, it finally melted. Not saying thats your problem but similar symtoms.

Ouch! I obviously can't say for sure but it does seem to fit the symptoms you describe.

It might be worth doing a couple of things. One thing is ensuring that the graphics card is seated properly. Another and this is a distinct possibility is that a couple of years ago Rocket had the same issue. When he opened his 'puter up it was clogged with dust. It might be worth using a vacuum on it, carefully. Don't forget that the card has its own fan so that needs to be cleaned as well.

Also if you OC your graphics card that it could be that it's life expectancy is running out.

Has anyone suggested a memory leak yet?

Check that you have no scenery folders with an empty texture folder within.

Thanks guys, I will check on the card when I get home. I know its a Nvidia but can't remember the exact model. The weird thing is that it seems to come and go. The sim will lock up to zero fps for about 5 minutes randomly and then bounce back to 25 for a few then back to zero. I will try to clean it out and see if that helps.

I have found that dust buildup can really degrade the performance levels. I usually spray out my computer about once a month to keep the dust down, but that is because I heat my house with a wood stove and in the summer I don't have AC so the windows are always open...not good for keeping dust down.

Since it's Nvidia you could run this app and see what it's telling you about the card:

This can't be good...sim has been running for about 5 minutes, no problems. I did get a missing flatten file, not sure if that would cause the memory leak but that temp can't be good!
thanks Mike for that app.

Not at the moment. I think a spring clean of your GC and case fans is the first port of call to see what difference that makes. It could solve it completely, hopefully.

Check you DVD burner as well, see how fast it saves a heavy file like a home movie. My burner gave up the ghost and it some how effected the whole PC memory thing.

well its completely dusted out and the temp dropped down to 60c so im guessing that was the problem. Quite a bit of dust :x guess I gotta do better keeping up with that.

With a 50% drop I would say that you have pretty much hit the nail on the head.

So with a card that works and no jaggies you are going to have quite a smile on your face for a few days.
