Guys, looking for repaints for 23 and 29 Sqn Phantoms (grey scheme) either the FM model or Mike Pearson's new one.

Appreciate that Mike has done a couple of each unit, but was kind of hoping that someone may well have done the entire unit in each case.

I'm not sure those have been repainted yet.

I'll do those for you Stew. I have a feeling I have them half done in any case.
The only thing I don't have is an accurate record of serials for 23 Sqn aircraft in 1981. I have a record of serials for 29 Sqn 1983.

Have found about 6 for around that time Chris, but I've put a request on the FC website in their serial tie-in section.

No doubt you will have encountered the RAF's lovely idea of swapping tail codes around, just to annoy the hell out of folks like us.

This site shows the history of the RAF Birds;

As you'll see there are multiple entries for some of the codes. Have seen 3 aircraft which wore the 23 Sqn "A" code.

From this, here is a list of serials and codes. All I can say is that these aircraft did carry these tailcodes at one time or another.

XV495/C
XV402/A
XV466/E
XV408/N
XV478/M
XV500/S
XV501/B
XV403/T
XV404/H
XV419/G
XV420/W

Up to you how you proceed Chris - there are other serials and codes listed at the site I mentioned.

BTW: Did you manage to get that Wattisham amendment working? Or do I need to get the drawing board out again?

There is at least one thing missing from that list, a twin sticking. 23 sqn traditionally used X for its twin whilst 56 used Y, all Sqns tended to use X,Y or Z with the exception of the OCU for obvious reasons.

At that time 23's X was XT903.

P.S. I found a movement log for Wattisham http://www.wattisham.org.uk/wtm-1981-08.htm for Aug 81, which has most of the Sqn serials on. 23 is incomplete as I know for a fact that 23 had a 4-ship flying that day but only 3 serials on the flightline.

Pre-Falklands the standard 'Toom Sqn had 11x Single stickers and 1x two-sticker. Afterwards 56 went to 13x Single stickers and 2x two stickers.

I uploaded them to Avsim this afternoon in the aforementioned listing. I'll do XT903 as Y then and either put it in a later release or deal with it locally by request.
I was going to finish up with 23 Sqn in the Falklands 1984 and 1435 Flight in their last days. And one more...56 and 74 as FGR.2s 1992 before they, sob, before they, sob, before they went. There I said it.
I'm getting stronger each day with the counselling.

N.B. For those not in the know we called them 'Crows' and they called us 'Chicken-in-a-basket' the derogatory names for the squadron emblems.
