Well I have finally saved up enough dosh for a new Box:

Ordered from http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/

Case: The Coolermaster 690 II Case

Processor: Intel Core i7 Quad core i7-3820(3.6ghz) 10mb Cache

Mainboard: ASUS P9X79 Intel Socket LG2011

RAM: 16GB Kingston hyperx genesis quad ddr3 2133mhz (4 x 4gb)

Graphics: Nvidia Geforce GTX670 2GB 2DVI, HDMI

Hard drive 1: 1TB SATA-III 6GB/S HDD 7200RPM 65MB Cache

Hard drive 2: 2tb SATA-III 6GB/S HDD 7200RPM 65MB Cache

Optical drive: 24x Dual layer DVD Writer +-R/=-RW/RAM

PSU: Corsair 750w tx750 v2-80 plus

Cooling: Intel Cert Liquid CPU cooler Soc LG2011

OS: WIN7 Home Premium 64

I could have used a SSD drive for HD1 but still not sure how good/reliable/long lasting they are.

Also decided to stay with WIN7. WIN8 is still too new and I follow the old adage that its not worth playing with until at least SP1 has been released.

Any thoughts ??

Stay with Win7 for all means. SSD hard disks can be considered safe today - we do so in a large corporate environment. Breaking hardware can still happen in any component - ask Ray  - and therefore check out Acronis, and additional external hard disk storage (preferably a NAS) and then you are in a very comfortable and safe situation.

Cheers guys

Mark:
Save your pennies and you too can have one. I save £2 coins in an outer tin from a bottle of Glenmorangie (sadly now long since consumed). Took just over 2 years to collect over £1200.

Martin:
Yes I was unsure either way so decided to stay with what I.m comfortable with. I may upgrade in the future once I have saved up some more. I already keep a backup of all my computers on my NAS box so hopefully I'm protected from those HD failures that inevitably occur. FS gets backed up at least every 2 months and other stuff when I can be bothered or before I make any major changes to either Hardware or Software.
