Edwards AFB 412th Test Wing KC-135R UPDATED!
Edwards AFB 412th Test Wing KC-135R UPDATED!
See a few posts down for updated model.
One off model of the MAIW KC-135R.
This is the refueling version of the KC-135R model. This is the complete model, texture and special refueling FDE. You can insert the model file and texture into any MAIW_MGAI_KC-135R_Refueling aircraft model folder to save space. The model will display the refueling animations between FL200-FL240 as long as the aircraft is in level flight.
Model by: MAIW Development Team members
Texture by: Mark Walsh
FDE by: Michael MacIntyre
This aircraft has most recently completed a series of tests that will bring the entire USAF fleet of KC-135R's up to the Block 45 standard which includes the integration of a digital flight director, a radar altimeter, an electronic engine instrument display, as well as an automatic flight control system or autopilot to help the aircraft address communications, navigation, and surveillance/air traffic management (CNS/ATM) requirements that enable unrestricted operations in global airspace.

Thanks Mike.
But where can I find the callsign TROUT.
Couple of months ago you could search for callsigns on this site, if I'm not mistaken it was under Resources but can't find it anymore.

Re: Edwards AFB 412th Test Wing KC-135R
Would anyone happen to know where some flight plans might be for the Edwards KC-135? I'm not sure if any were actually made but I'm just curious...
Re: Edwards AFB 412th Test Wing KC-135R
I've made other flightplans if you wish, I had this one in the folder of repaints to install and I made them from zero!

From what I understand 61-0320 was a temporary assignment whilst 63-7980 was being fitted out.

I can make you a call sign if you still need it. I am going to make one for my simulator. Also, thanks for the great model of the Speckled Trout. I have heard of this aircraft over at ATS and from living in the midwest near Offut.gvbeek wrote:Thanks Mike.

Re: Edwards AFB 412th Test Wing KC-135R UPDATED!
OK sometimes the information can get confusing but this is what I believe.
The original Speckled Trout was 63-7980 and is now grounded at Tinker as an instructional airframe.
Its replacement is 61-0320 however it is no longer with the 412th FLTS, as this Sqn has been disbanded.
It is still based at Edwards assigned to the 418th FLTS, which confusingly is part of the 412th TW.
So all in all, yes you can still use the Speckled Trout model, yes it is still based at Edwards, this is the latest scheme. So if there is anybody out there - like myself - that can get a bit too pedantic with unit allocation then all you need to do is alter the txt files titles and the fltsim entry (plus title in the aircraft.txt) to show either 418th FLTS or 412th TW according to the way you prefer things.
I think this covers everything.

I think using the KC-135 model for this paint might be a bit more accurate. This current plane (61-0320) doesn't have as many of the lumps and bumps on top of the fuselage like the speckled trout model does.

That is up to you. Personal choice. The official designation is NKC-135R.
The airframe has taken the Speckled Trout role and that photo was taken 5 years ago. My take on it is that it is likely to be similar to the RC-135 fleet where I understand that no two aircraft are identical.
