Hi Guys

I'm looking for an AI version of the Comet and Argosy in RAF markings. Anyone know where I can find one.

Aha, you mean Argosies like these:

Choice of two models with and without animated clamshell doors and loading ramp. Not quite ready to release them yet and still the FSX conversion to do ......................

I'll let someone else talk about the scenery package if they are ready to.

Sorry, but can't help with the Comet.

I am so glad John posted those pictures - I was really biting my nails over that one.

The scenery for Benson will be available as soon as the Argosy is released, just finalizing the package at this very moment and once again, Brian has done a fantastic job with it.

John, you can get the Comet from the calclassic website http://www.calclassic.com/AIAircraft.htm

Thanks Daryl. There's a little re-work of the buildings in the central area that I'm doing for Brian - changing a C-type for a T2 hangar, placing a more representative radio tower and making the right apron lighting towers. The FS9 Argosies are all done and the FSX conversion should take just a couple of days, so not far off.

The scenery frame rate with 16 Argosies and library trees is a healthy 58 fps in my FS9 set up. However, sorry to report that the scenery is probably unusable in FSX. Frame rate there is just 10 fps without AI, clouds or autogen. The 16 Argosies have a 10 fps penalty which means that FSX wouldn't be a slide show, just a still picture. I've been trying to work through the 22 libraries required to see if there are any specific culprits hogging the FSX resources, but haven't found them yet, but fingers crossed.

Argosies and Benson, doesn't get much better than that. More used to seeing Benson covered in Pumas and Merlins these days. The retro look is much better.
Thanks guys, looking forward to the release.

Those pics bring back some memories.

As an Air Cadet I often used to fly in the 'whistling wheelbarrows' from Benson as it was closest to my home. I thought I had made the biggie one day when I turned up to Ops and managed to get a flight to Norway. And then someone decided Cadets shouldn't fly with a load of ammo bound for winter exercises. Bu**er!

Wow just what I needed, any chance John is planning a Short Belfast or Beverley? :D

Possibly, but let's get this package done first.

Well done John. The Argosies are most welcome.

The only Argosy I ever saw fly was with 115 from Brize doing the calibration work.

Tim was in the early stages of doing an Andover C1/E3 (HS780), but was put on hold due to other projects. Dee Waldron released a CC2 (HS748) although it is a bit dated and you really need to amend the fde to prevent the props idling on approach.

Thanks for that, I'll see if I've got it in my files or have to search for it.

Those Argosy's look real sweet, used to see them a lot in the 60's and 70's :)

John,

That's a very nice set of whistling tits as we used to call them. The Red Arrows used to use them to lug their kit around before the Herc's became available.

Nice Andover Tim, are you making a Gnat too, it looks very familiar. If you want and photo's of the Gnat I have lots. That's assuming that you're making one of course...

Very nice piece of work. I lived at RAF Benson from 1964 to 68 and saw the Argosies lined up like that many times. I flew in Argosy XP409 from Eastleigh (Nairobi) to Aden at the end of a Sea Scout camp.

Looking forward to this project.

Regards

John
