Hey Guys, I was thinking about substituting My Aerosoft F-14 model for the the one that come in the F-14 "TopGun" package. Is it possible to just ditch the Aerosoft FDE and Panel files, and then just sub in the FDE from the old F-14Ai Model? would it work?

Are you talking about flying the Aerosoft F-14 with the AI fde?

No, I am talking about using the Aerosoft F-14 as Ai. I know it is not the most Ideal solution, but I need me some F-14's in P3d4!

Well if you can't wait then you can transfer the AI fde across, but the AI fde MUST be balanced the same way as the fde for the flyable aircraft fde.
If it is not then weird stuff happens, or it can simple disappear underground.

Be prepared to have to move the model centre, and therefore all other positional parameters as well.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been using several flyable aircraft as AI in P3Dv4 until the MAIW conversion packages are released. You have to overlook some things, like canopies closed and pilots present all of the time. But my FSX Acceleration Hornets taxi with flaps down and take off with full afterburner. I did not change the FDE’s in any of them.

Hope this helps,
Reggie

I've used flayables for AI sometimes, mainly because they might have more detail or I couldn't fine a texture for the AI, some work no problem as Reggie said above others I've had to tweak a bit, also if I do ever swap parts of the cfg I also use the air file from the one I'm swapping from.
