Vipers, Venoms and Cobras
Vipers, Venoms and Cobras
We are pleased to release the final part of a project featuring the Bell Cobra light attack helicopter. Earlier this month we uploaded 36 AH-1S Cobras of the JGSDF, including updated scenery of Akeno, Kasumigaura and Kisazaru from Brent Newman. This was followed by 20 AH-1F Cobras of the Republic of Korea Army, painted by Mins, who also designed scenery and flight plans to operate them.
The final part of the project consists of two helicopter types. The first is the AH-1Z Viper of the United States Marine Corps. 60 examples have been produced. These operate with flight plans and updated scenery of Camp Pendleton, California and Futenma, Japan, from Brent. The second helicopter featured is the Bell UH-1Y Venom or “Super Huey” which is also operated by the same HMLA squadrons at Camp Pendleton and Futenma. This type is often seen together with the AH-1Z Vipers and is actually present in greater numbers. 72 examples have been produced for the package.

Re: Vipers, Venoms and Cobras
The UH-1Y Venom is a really nice surprise. I did not know that was being made. I am not sure why but I really like the Venom.
Re: Vipers, Venoms and Cobras
Thanks John for these. Just a quick query, where are the flightplans for them?

The flight plans should indeed be in with the scenery uploads from Brent.

Re: Vipers, Venoms and Cobras
Great looking models John and thanks for animating the pax heads. Just a quick tech question on the Yankee, did you see pics of the no-doors model? I've seen the front doors removed much the same as we did in the H-60, but we never took off the cabin doors.

Yes indeed Chris, If you search UH-1Y Venom, you will see photos of the aircraft flying with the cabin doors removed.

Re: Vipers, Venoms and Cobras
The flightplans are indeed included in the updated Futenma and Pendleton packages. They are ready to go, just need to be stuck in the library. So, a bit more patience, then your graphics cards can scream for mercy as your So Cal area gets destroyed by AI overload.
Re: Vipers, Venoms and Cobras
The Futenma and Pendleton updates are now available in the hangar.

Re: Vipers, Venoms and Cobras
First off...thanks John and all involved in the AH-1 and UH-1 models..EXCELLENT!!! Now this...I am using P3Dv4 and when I put the Camp Pendleton scenery in, I have trees all over the place. Do I have to convert anything to clear them out of the scenery? Thanks for the help and keep up the good work.

Re: Vipers, Venoms and Cobras
I'm running 4.2 with no trees on my ramps, straight install with FSX files from package. I have Orbx FTX as well if that helps.

Might have to run the FTX Configurator or what ever it it is. I have Orbx FTX installed as well. I will give that a shot. Thanks

Re: Vipers, Venoms and Cobras
No go. Still have trees showing up all over the base. I just installed the scenery, didn't touch the ADE files or anything, just trees all over the place. Don't know what is causing it. Any suggestions?

Re: Vipers, Venoms and Cobras
Has the updated Futenma been released yet? I was trying to use John's Vipers and Venoms and needed the flightplans.
Thank you,

Yes it was. The links were never added to the briefing, but a search in the Download Hangar reveals the link.
Re: Vipers, Venoms and Cobras
Thank you Greg. I had the file, but didn't realize it contained the FP I was looking for. I've installed the FP and now ROTM is alive with Vipers and Venoms. Mike
