Callsigns

Over the years a lot of people have posted about callsigns used by this or that Sqn.

Today I found a seemingly useful and user friendly site that should help most people.
Milscanners - https://www.milscanners.org/gdb/cs/

I post this in anticipation of people asking questions about what callsigns to use for German Tornado Sqns in the coming days.
Well now you can answer your own question (they are both there - I checked)

Great find, I was using a 1JUN18 .pdf Mil Callsign List by "Ron". I also look on the spotter forums in scramble and ADSBExchange.

In my transfer to P3D, I lost some voicepacks and had to make new ones, if anyone needs something made via EditVoicepack. I wish there was a function to just speak the callsign into a mic.

Twitter is a great resource as well if you follow the spotters and ADS-B tracker accounts. You can't get any more up to date info than that.

Still available to make callsigns when needed, although FSX format only.

Stewart, just interested to know, what is different between FSX and FS9 call signs other than, perhaps a different vocabulary between the two sims? Is there any degree of compatibility, ie FS9 used in FSX, but FSX not in FS9? Is there a process to convert one format to the other, or do they have to be made separately for each sim version?

Hi John,

As with all things FSX, you can install FS9 callsigns in FSX using Editvoicepack XL. However you cannot install from the latter to the former.

FS9 file name = .vcp
FSX file name = .evp

Plus indeed, there are some minor differences between the two voicepacks. This means that if "snippets" from a certain phrase from the FS9 voicepack were used to construct a vcpmod and that phrase doesn't exist in the FSX/P3D voicepack, the callsign may not be complete.

It doesn't happen often, but it happens.

I am a FS9 user but i would like to know if there are any differences or improvements in the ATC of P3Dv4 compared to FS9.
