Question re P3D

Just dipping a toe into P3Dv3 and have a quick question.

Can you use the same system for splitting up your Simobject files as works with FSX? (altering the entries in the cfg file)

Stew, SimObject - Aircraft.cfg file structure is the same as in FSX. On top of that P3D offers more flexibility in folder locations. It is recommended to put add on aircraft folders outside the sim. P3D uses the \ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\simobjects.cfg file to control those locations, you can enter add on folders like this:

...
[Entry.10]
Title=AI Aircraft
Path=D:\Airplanes_AI
Required=False
Active=True

[Entry.11]
Title=Carriers
Path=D:\P3D\Carriers
Required=False
Active=True

etc.

Have you done a search for Simobjects.cfg on your system, Stew?
From what i can find on the net it has been around since the early days.

Did you find your P3D user settings folder? As you use v3 it should be C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3. You must have a Simobjects.cfg file, it is required by the sim, a fresh install creates that file with the 9 default simobjects folder paths.
