Another Herc paint I decided to try out. This time, making a KC-130T out of the C-130R paint-kit and the KC-130H model. Of course the Drogue pods are different but I think I replicated them pretty well. This is supposed to be VX-20s KC-130T, but the only thing I can't seem to find are the insignias for the tail. I'll probably hand this over to someone else who could try to update the Hercs at Pax River.

It's a great start and I think those pods work fine. VX-20 seems to have a nice collection of different schemes on their Hercs, outside of the started USMC 3-tone. At least the KC-130J is easy.

For the tail insignia, I was looking for this:



I have no idea where to find that, even though it's on the HTAI paints.

I'm also a little confused on how many 130s VX-20 has, because according to scramble they have 4: a 130J, a 130R, and two 130Ts. There are also pictures of this tanker, that's not listed in scramble:



And finally, I don't think I can finish the paints now because my access to Photoshop is gone. That's why I want to give the paints to someone else. If anyone can help me finish these paints that would be great.

P.S. I made another VX-20 paint that is the one tone Navy gray, so i'll show that to you soon.

Unfortunately, I don't think I can continue with the paints since my access to Photoshop is expired, as I was doing these on a school computer. Does anyone want to finish the paints? I'm completely fine with handing them over to someone else.

Gimp and Paint.net are free, I'm using paint.net for my very elementary repaints.

So I downloaded GIMP and finished up the paints, but one problem i'm running into is converting the xcf files into dds files because they won't open in dxtbmp.

Can't GIMP save files as BMP? I know that XCF is its default format but can't you load it and save as?

To see for myself I downloaded the latest portableapps version, 2.10, and saw that not only can you export the file as a BMP but as as a DDS. So you can do that wouk in GIMP.

I use gimp for my repaints. I export the paint as a .jpg in gimp and then convert it to dds in DXTBMP. Note in gimp you have to use export for the paint, and select the format you want. Save only saves the .xcf file.
I found exporting as a .bmp gave funny results when converted to dds or dxt3 so I always save as a .jpg. Hope this helps.

I save mine as *.psd file then use DXTBitmap to convert it.

I finally made paints for the other two tanker Hercs that VX-20 uses; A KC-130J and a KC-130R. I also put the tail insignia on all three of them.
