I am getting close to my first P3D aircraft release. (yup - AI Falcons for P3D)
Things are a lot faster to complete -
Having to deal with less LODs than FS9 (3 vs 6)
Easy way around the lightmap issue for FSX

Do people still use FS9?

I wouls guess that the new FS2020 will be closer to P3D than FSX, so was leaning towards only doing P3D.
Comments welcome.

Still using FS9 here...due to age of myself and my computer, no plans to upgrade. But, I do understand the desire/need for the hobby to move forward.

I'm always with FS9.

My laptop is not enought up to date for FSX nor P3D. I can "play" with FS9 anywhere I go.

At home, my PC is also with FS9. Not enought up to date for FSX nor P3D.

FS9 is enought complete for me. I'm happy with this, and all MAIW productions and Modellers (like JYAI, MKAI, etc)

I am still FS9.
I was leaning towards thinking that going to P3D might be the best thing to do, once the life's work that Greg and Martin have been co-ordinating for seemingly a decade is completed.

However, my feeling is that if a change is to be made the sensible thing to do is to see what FS2020 brings. That might be the best way to go and I can wait another couple of months to make the optimum decision.

There was a saying in the Phantom fleet - 'Flexibility is the key to air power, and indecision is the key to flexibility'.

Looking at the big picture here. I think that until that situation becomes clear then you will always get people that will stay on their current choice - be it FS9 or FSX. Clarity is essential to avoid splintering the support base.

My feeling is that a decision on the future path to take is not that far off.

I want to jump back in when FS2020 is available, already planning on what sort of laptop I need to buy!

It looks like my computer might be able to run FS2020. My graphic card is on the tier 3 of his list.

Not sure if this is true, but I heard that FS2020 will have an FSX model compatibility while I never heard that said about P3D.

FS9 until FS2020 is available and any bugs have been ironed out.

Makes sense that MS would support their own product.

Due to my age and the quantity of stuff on my pc I will stick with fs9 until I am incapable of operating my computer

Get a real computer.

I can't even get the IT department at work to give me a decent laptop these days....

I'm FSX & P3D all the way - still have FS9 installed (but just to test models before converting them)

I always preferred FS9 to FSX but finally made the transition to P3D when V4 came out. This time around I will await the release of FS2020 and then make a decision. All ideas of purchases are currently on hold until things become clearer. I believe that FS9 is slowly losing support but it will be some time before it is dead & buried. I recently did a complete re-install on my second PC and once up and running I decided that I could no longer be bothered to install FS9 on it although I still have a full backup from Jul 17 when I stopped updating and concentrated on P3D.

100% FS9 since mid August 2003.

Dont care about FS2020 hype.

P3D only. I have both FSX:SE and FS9 installed so I can see what stuff looks like in those sims, and I am doing some stuff for FSX, but for my own purposes it has to be P3D (V5 soon hopefully!) - until I can find something better! No OOM problems and Dynamic Lighting are worth the difference on their own. I'm optimistic that FS20 will be usable for our purposes, but we'll have to wait and see. For me, it's about creating a moving picture, and the better the software, the better the picture. I find FS9 cartoonish.

Haven't touched FS9 for at least 5 years now, I'm all about P3Dv4.5 as it stands. I was unsure of making the jump from FSX to P3D but once I did I found it to be so much better and so much better on frames despite providing more bang for my buck. I could never go back to FS9 now I'm used to all the goodies that come with P3D

I think I will wait a while before jumping to FS2020 as I would like to see how well developers can port fly able aircraft in to it and also AI...in whatever form that may be.

The future is bright for us based on what FS2020 looks to bring.
