Good day All,

I have exhausted my means as regards this problem.

Last night my P3Dv4 was working great, without an issue.
This morning when I fire it up, at a default airfield, with default F-22, I can't get above 5 frames (FPS)
I have deleted the shaders and config and allowed P3D to rebuild these, but to no avail.

I hope someone here has some advise on how to resolve this issue

So in desperation I took the "delete generated files" option.
Unfortunately to no avail. I am still getting 5fps with nothing installed.
I think its time to start a hardware check starting with RAM.

I would doubt that it is RAM. RAM either works or it doesn't, it works full out or it glitches and causes crashes. I am not suggesting that you don't check it but my thinking is that it is something else.

Does this phenomenon happen at just the ones base or everywhere?

It happened everywhere. All airports, both default and addon.
I started by removing one RAM DIMM and the issue went away. I then swapped the RAM DIMMS and once again no issue.
I cleaned the RAM slots and DIMMS contacts, reinserted all RAM and all is now fine.
I might be imagining it but I got the impression the PC and P3Dv4 booted quicker with only one RAM DIMM (8Gb), regardless of which one it was.
So, however weird it may be, for now the issue is resolved. Thanks for your input.

Well I am glad you got lucky but I am wondering if it was more to do with the Virtual Mem setting on your PC.
Like I said if RAM has an issue it will just crash things, I have had that in the past.

It sounds like, taking into account what you were saying about its sudden appearance/disappearance, that most of the actual RAM was in use and the VMEM was constantly paging in and out which would slow everything down.

A reboot automatically clears out the VMEM. I would check your VMEM settings. The rule is that you should have 1.5x the amount of memory for your pagefile. You can let Windows set the pagefile size according to needs but you can run the risk of disk fragmentation if it changes a lot, especially if your boot disk is tight for space.

For myself, I have 16GB of mem and I set my pagefile to 24GB.

The PC was rebooted numerous times during the whole process so can't see why the VMEM would have been the issue.
However I have checked and the VMEM setting were 200mb and 1024mb which I have now upped to 16Gb and 64Gb.
I have I have 230Gb free on the boot drive, so no space issues there.

Wow that small size of the VMEM could very well be the problem and I am surprised that you haven't hit it before.
It does seem that you hit the wrong combination.

You would think that the more memory that you have that the less you need for the VMEM but from everything that I have read it isn't the case. It doesn't make sense to me either.

It's strange. I have had this PC for 7 years, bought it for P3D, and its doing a great job. Weird that this only reared it's ugly head now.

I agree. My feeling is that it was just a weird combination of stuff running on your PC at the time - unless of course it caught COVID-19.
