Chile buys three of RAF 707-E-3D AWACS.

The RAF will replace the AWACS with three 737 Wedgetails. In another article it was mentioned that one of the three Wedgetails is a former passenger 737-700.

So, in th future I'll remove my EVAI Boeing 707 Phalcon from my FS9 and replace it with two E-3D (I must do a repaint for them before) (the third E-3D is for spare parts only)

Thaht strange to replace the Phalcon by old E-3D.

The Phalcon airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) is equiped with the EL/M-2075 Radar (active electronically scanned array radar).

The E-3E is equiped with yhe hydraulically rotated antenna system permits the AN/APY-1 passive electronically scanned array radar system.

So the E-3D are equiped with old radar... with mechanical system for radome.

The engines of E-3D are more recent CFM56-2
The Phalcon have old Pratt & Whitney TF33-PW-100A

It coul be iteresting to see if the Chile could only put new engines on their Phalcon.

What I think is more likely is that they will put the CFM56s on their KC-135s, got to be a big cost saver if they do.
