Oshkosh 2022

First time going out for EAA Airventure Oshkosh held at Wittman Regional Airport & this event did not disappoint in anyway. more than 10,000 aircraft in display means that at certain times it is the busiest airport on the planet. & with 1 pilot telling me that they were in a stack 100 miles long with aircraft spaced at 1/2 a mile it's not hard to imagine the scale of this event. I will admit that the vast majority of the 10,000+ aircraft were GA types which for me aren't particularly interesting. The only real gripe I have was the lack of USAF assets especially in the flying display, they were completely outshone by the US Navy & Marine Corps who were nothing short of spectacular.
Here are my efforts from the first day which wasn't a show day as such, more an arrivals day. Most of the mil stuff was later on in the week so that is to come:

Thanks Dan. I was particularly looking forward to your post and was not disappointed. I was pleased to see CAF's B-25 "Devil Dog" still going, having modelled and painted it a few years ago.
Keep them coming, it's a really interesting place.

I did manage to track Dan down on the third day of the show after a few days of us trying to connect. His mate failed to hit the correct Iphone button to take our picture together so Dan's anonymity is safe for another year lol! Should've checked my phone before I said goodbye!
Was a fantastic show this year and I'm glad Dan's first time to Oshkosh was one of the better ones in memory, other than the Saturday night before the show, the weather was spectacular all week, especially for Wisconsin in late July.
I'd share my crappy Iphone photos but honestly they're terrible compared to Dan's so I'm also looking forward to the rest of his shots.
They were celebrating the 75th anniversary of the USAF but as Dan said, the USAF was nearly absent all week, including displays, kinda disappointing. The MV-22 was supposed to demo on Monday but it broke apparently. Otherwise we didn't have a single USAF demo until the C-17 later in the week. A few flyby's of the A model of the F-35 as part of the Heritage flight but not much more than that.
I'm fine with that, at my advanced age I'd rather see the stuff you don't see everyday like the F7F and F8 warbirds.
I'd say Dan is one lucky man, RIAT and Oshkosh in just the span of a few weeks, the aviation equivalent of heaven I suppose!

Thank goodness for small mercies
I am indeed a very lucky boy this year, still got a week in Scotland/Lake district & a trip to Zeltweg for Airpower 22 as well to come

Thanks John, "Devil Dog" was an all female crew this year which was a nice touch given one of themes for Oshkosh this year

Here are my efforts from day 2, still plenty of arrivals today & A couple of surprises as well, the CF-5D springs immediately to mind. More military arrivals today with 2 USAF T-38's being the highlight for me, there was also a third that came in from Beale AFB as well but I was on my way back so missed that one.

It's fun for me to see all of these birds again after a few weeks. Dan saw and captured many that even I didn't see the whole time I was there. That's Oshkosh for you, never gonna be able to take it all in.
