Not unexpected, but a great shame and a huge loss to the flightsim community.

Very sad indeed.

Rest in peace now, dear Don. Your fight is over. Your legacy lives on. Blue skies forever.

What a huge shame. From someone who finds a few blocks of XML a bit of a challenge, Don's ability to produce such comprehensive masterpieces as AIFP is a marvel. I will think of him every time I click that icon.

I will always cherish the virtual places you created over the years.
Thank you ....rest in peace Don.

I never met Don, and we couldn't be called friends but I did interact with him a few times over the years over issues with AIFP and I helped diagnose and test fixes on occasion.

I think that the saddest thing is that his coding legacy will not continue on. As far as I know he didn't hand over his work to anybody else. Completely his choice of choice, and therefore I will respect that, but a shame none the less.

He will be missed.

All of his Stuff4FS projects have been handed over to Arno at FSDeveloper. I have no idea if Arno has any intention of continuing to improve them, or simply to host them for future users. However, they aren't lost and will continue to be available, at the very least.

That is at least something positive.

In his last months Don had asked Arno and myself if we would like to preserve his FS heritage. Arno is happy to have Don's tools on FSDeveloper, and I have also added his airports and paints at The Owls Nest.

Ah, I hadn’t realised that you’d got Don’s airports Martin. That’s good news.
