Just out of interest, when the Forum states that there were 298 users on-line (measured in the last 5 minutes) at 6am this morning and 265 at 7am, does this mean that at least 563 users were probably on line over the hour, given that a single visit isn't likely to last any where near that time period? Or is it that a core of users are always shown as on-line because they never log-out?
If it's the latter, although the core is shown as on-line, might they not actually be viewing the forum?
John

Re: Number of Users On Line
I think something may have gone slightly wrong with the counting/recording system. As most of those users were Guests I suspect they are Bots of varying guises.

Re: Number of Users On Line
This is the situation right now:

The only registered human user online is me. I imagine Greg has set up some kind of statistical analysis with Bing, hence their bot is registered. The other 84 will be crawlers from all kinds of online data gatherers. The 'most ever users' number of 631 on 17 May 2024 simply isn't a credible measure of the number of people browsing the website. Nothing has happened here to generate human interest other than the update of the forum software. That - a fine achievement though it is - is of little interest to most casual users. There is very little traffic on the forum itself and I suspect I've been the most prolific downloader of files from the Hangar just recently! I suspect the real highest number of users ever was way back when new MAIW packages were eagerly awaited by an engaged audience.
I hope that when uploading returns, our Brazil package will engage a new generation of enthusiastic members.

Tim, allow me a quote:
"I hope that when uploading returns, our Brazil package will engage a new generation of enthusiastic members".
I think you just coined the understatement of the year.

Re: Number of Users On Line
700+ 'users online' at 0430 this morning (I was up because my under-construction new office/studio was flooded out last night!). If only!
Jorgen, thank you - but I'd like to manage your expectations. Our project is ambitious but I wouldn't put it above the excellent stuff MAIW has created in the past. Much of my scenery work is new AFCADs using MAIW libraries, and breaks no new ground in technique or detail. Only two airfields (so far) are custom creations, one by me and one by John. The really good stuff is John's AI, but I think we're all used to that!

Re: Number of Users On Line
It was indeed due to two new unkown bots. One is from Facebook and is now added to the Bots list, the other is now blocked because it wasn't respecting the bot rules.
The max users online was also reset.
