MAIW NBAI Boeing EA-18G Growler & FA-18E/F Super Hornet V.1.1 Conversion Support (P3D)

Post by gsnde »

Post support related comments for the MAIW NBAI Boeing EA-18G Growler & FA-18E/F Super Hornet Conversion package in this thread.

Note: This package uses special long names for the models and their directories. Avoid installing the package in deeper levels of the directory structure.

If errors occur, move the installation folder up towards the root of the drive.
Cheers,
Martin

Just some observations watching the v2.0 F18s Land version at night after installing into P3Dv5:
1. Are the lights coded into the model? After landing, all lights turned off except for anti-coll and position, taxi light.
2. On the "F" models, the position lights on top of the leading edge extension did not show, but displayed fine on the E models. They show in AIAE.
3. As AI were vectoring around, low power AB fx was pointing vertical out of the exhaust?
4. I'm guessing an airfile adjustment, the models flare/float after passing the touch-down point.

Flew formation off them and liking the flight control animations, gives the AI model some "life". Haven't noticed this in the approach phase.

So while I am still really not in the mood for P3d just yet... As I mentioned in the other thread my family and I are grieving / mourning a very recent loss...

1. The lights are hard coded. I used the previous hard coding from the original conversions; and those were rigged to the recog lights.
2. Looking at the position lights in MCX I can't see any difference between the ones on the F and the E and I did not change them from previous versions.
3. Again not sure would need to see a screen shot and I did not change this effect from previous versions. Not sure if you have an old version of the effect installed. I cross checked this against previous releases and cannot see any difference in MCX. The orientation axis still show the same...
4. No air file adjustments were made to the land based versions as it was not necessary, the adjustments were only necessary for carrier ops...

Weird issue I'm researching, the following models show in AIAE(MCX) but not in sim (P3Dv5):

I have started investigating these issues today... The "invisible models" appears to be some sort of MCX compiler error that is happening intermittently... What I can do is re-compile all the aircraft using a legacy stable version of MCX instead of the dev version... Also once re-compiled the nav lights work fine as well... The afterburner will require some more looking on my part... Most likely replacing or entirely deleting the effects... The elevator issues can be fixed or adjusted by modifying the following entries in the aircraft.cfg:

[WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE]
max_gross_weight = 20450.0 // (pounds)
empty_weight = 10500 // (pounds)

reference_datum_position = 0.0, 0, 0.0
empty_weight_CG_position = -4.0, 0, 1.0

max_number_of_stations = 1

[flight_tuning]
cruise_lift_scalar = 1.0
parasite_drag_scalar = 1.0
induced_drag_scalar = 1.0
elevator_effectiveness = 10.0
aileron_effectiveness = 2.0
rudder_effectiveness = 1.0
pitch_stability = 6.0
roll_stability = 1.0
yaw_stability = 1.0
elevator_trim_effectiveness = 14.0
aileron_trim_effectiveness = 1.0
rudder_trim_effectiveness = 1.0

I had to do this to make these animations work in the carrier versions... This will move the CG forward to make it not want to pitch down so much and dampen the movement...

An update package to these models has been uploaded to the file library V.2.1. All aircraft have been re-compiled using a legacy / stable version of MCX; improved cockpit effects / lighting; improved engine exhausts; improved effects... Update package for the Legacy Hornets will come in the following days to weeks...
