4 Hornets from VMFA-122 stationed at MCAS Beaufort game into RDU yesterday (Nov 16) for a gas & go. With the recent release of our Beaufort package, I thought it was kinda cool to actually see some units from the package, I only had my crappy Finepix camera with me but better than nothing I guess  there was also a Prowler out here on Friday but the weather sucked so no pics :x

yeah, they only stayed about an hour or so, and my camera ran outta space just as they were taking the active, they all took off no burner though anyway, the tower guys here are kinda anal  Four Tyndall F-15s came in to do a fly over for the UNC game a couple years ago and ruined it for everybody by doing a couple max performance take offs on their way out when they evidently weren't cleared to, the last guy even did an aileron roll on his climb out 8) and since then its been no burner take offs for all military jet flying out of here.

Very nice. I drove by Farmingville (KFRG) about 2 weeks ago in the late evening on a Friday and the USN F/A-18C Hornet demo bird was parked there unattended. No idea why lol. There are no airshows on or near Long Island for months and there were no other military aircraft....just this lonely Hornet lol.

Perhaps sometimes they let them take them home for the weekend?? :P

Occasionally I see a Marine Corps Hornet at Benning/Lawson (KLSF). Does anyone know what it's doing? Is there some kind of joint exercise or would it just be stopping at an Army airfield?

Thanks, :)

Lucky to be there at the right time.. That Beech 100 in the foreground looks pretty cool with the big engines and 5 bladed props..

Went to lunch at the airport today and some more hornets were out, this time from VFA-106, one C model and a D model. Also a KC-135 from Seymour Johnson came in, unfortunately, I didn't have my camera so no snaps :(

yeah, I think that's the one that came in earlier today. There was an Air Force ground crew here waiting for its arrival when it taxied in, its snowing up here right now so I don't if I'll be able to make it out to the airport over the weekend :( The D model hornet flew out during my lunch as a single ship, the pilot for the C model was still talking it up with a couple of the FBO staff when I left.
