this is what happened to one of the RAF's E3D's in the winds yesterday,

i can only imagine the A/C is grounded for a wee while, and some one is panicking abit, as i can only imagine the trailer should have been secured some how...maybe putting the brakes on i guess would have helped!!!

Apparently the piece of equipment is a ground handling simulator used in teaching ground movement of the E-3D. It had jumped it's chocks in the 60 + mph winds experienced in the UK that day, struck a glancing blow to the nose of one aircraft before embedding itself in the side as the pictures show.

It is estimated it reached speeds of over 30 mph as it careered along the pan. The manufacturer is furious, as it's only designed to do no more than 20 :wink:
