AI Touch and Go Problem

Hi: Trying to learn this AI stuff...Have been trying to get an airplane to do a continuous touch and go circuit around the airport...Can't seem to quite get it right...Here's what I have so far:

AC#102,N1051,75%,1H,VFR,01:13:00,TNG00:00:00,010,F,6820,KHYS,01:13:00,TNG00:00:00,010,F,6820,KHYS

Can someone look it over and tell me what is wrong? I am assuming that the departure and destination airport are the same, and the times determine how long the plane will fly the circuit, but I still am missing something... Thanks a lot...

Steve

Steve, welcome to the forums.

AC#102,N1051,75%,1H,VFR,01:13:00,TNG00:00:00,010,F,6820,KHYS,01:13:00,TNG00:00:00,010,F,6820,KHYS

I have highlighted your problem areas.

For starters, you can't have a "1H" as an interval. It has to be one of the following, 2Hr, 4Hr, 8Hr, 12Hr, 24Hr, or WEEK. Those are the only possibilities.

The way you've written the departure and arrival times probably won't work either. I see what you are trying to do but you have written the same exact times for both of your flight plans. I don't think that will work.

Lastly you might need to raise your altitude to higher than 1000 ft. just to be sure. KHYS is Hyannis correct? So it might work since that airport is so close to sea level, but to be safe you might raise it to at least 2000 ft ("020").

This is the way I would write this flight plan to make it work:

AC#102,N1051,75%,2Hr,VFR,01:13:00,TNG02:10:00,020,F,6820,KHYS,02:13:00,TNG03:10:00,010,F,6820,KHYS

This would make the aircraft depart at 01:13:00 and perform VFR circuits and touch and goes until 02:10:00 at which time it would try to terminate by taxiing back to the ramp. However since there is only a three minute gap until the next scheduled departure, the aircraft may just taxi back to the departure end and start another hour of TNG's. Since I wrote each flight plan with a 2 hour interval, the whole process will repeat itself every single hour of the day. So that should produce a continuous flight plan for this aircraft.

another little tip also is to lower your 75% to maybe 10%.
the way you have it, if your traffic slider is set lower than 75% your aircraft wont show.

Thanks for the very detailed reply...I will give it another try...This Ai thing is really fun...I actually find myself laughing out load when I see a plane enter the circuit and land, or stop and wait for another plane to go by...I will let you know how I get along...Thanks again for the help!

Oh...I forgot...KHYS is Hays, KS...The altitude would be a problem there...Thanks again...

Took your advice and altered the flight plan by your directions...Works great! I now see what I did wrong and what was behind my mistake...Learning ain't easy at my age! Thanks again for the great advice...I am really enjoying this stuff!

Ah yes, Hays. You're very welcome.
