Charleston AFB (KCHS)

Post by Greg »

Completed after just over a year, Tony Dalton presents a complete custom rebuild of Charleston AFB [KCHS].

Please use this link and read the included read.txt file before proceeding for a manual install.

This scenery complements our normal release AMC East Coast C-17 package so make sure you have it installed and removed the included KCHS files or you won't see the C-17 traffic.

Congratulations Tony for a job well done!

A labour of love Tony. Well worth the effort and very much appreciated.

Add some colorful 787 AI models for the Boeing facility on the south side of the field and you've got quite the spotting location!

Thanks Tony, I love it! :D

And Mike makes a good point about the Boeing facility, even if there is already plenty of primer-coloured action at nearby Savannah (ie. Gulfstreams, lots and lots of Gulfstreams).

Dave there is a Boeing assembly facility there for the 787 line. So there are new 787's rolling out of that building on a regular basis. Tony has modeled those buildings and that area as well and has provided parking spaces for the 787's.

Works great in FSX also. I added parking for Boeing's 787's and Dreamlifters, cargo spots on the SE side of the terminal (FDX, UPS, Atlas, Suburban, Martinair), and added Jet Blue and Southwest to the terminal spots. I also resized the spots for FSX and coded them so everyone parks in the proper places. The many C-17's had a propensity to want to park any where they pleased.
I might try to place a photoreal backround in a bit.
A very good job. I can understand why it took so long to develop.

Thanks, Tony !

Cheers guys, I'm pleased everyone likes it... When I say it took a year, I did have a couple of months off during the summer for a bit of R&R, I was doing too much too quickly and needed time away, most of you will know what I mean

I will upload this to AVSIM and FS.COM on 20th December, this give you guys some time to play before it goes "public"

I've just downloaded this scenery and some AI 787. But where can I find flightplans at this airport for these AI 787 ?

Thanks Joe, got the FPs in and tested CHS, pretty heavy on frames with the AI, but looks great in FSX. ADE would not allow me to compile after I made the parking changes, "too many aprons"?

"too many aprons" ? Strange, indeed. I didn't use ADEX to add the parking. I used AFX as that was what Tony used. I added no aprons, by the way, just spots.
When I mod an AFCAD I try to use the program that the original AFCAD was made with so as not to loose any of the scenery.
