Warbirds AI

Post by bismarck »

My interest in aeronautics started when I was a kid, listening to the stories told by one of my mother's uncles, that served with the Regia Aeronautica during WWII. He was a mechanic that worked mainly on Cant Z-1007 at Grottaglie and later at Rodi.
From the beginning of FS, I've always flown all possible aircraft of that era, and used as many as possible warbirds, in my AI traffic.

So, here a list of the aircraft I've found around the net, that can be used for AI traffic. They are all aircraft created for CFS2, but work fine as AI in FS9. Almost all comes from
http://www.sim-outhouse.com (SOH)

Start with the aircraft from Akemi Mizoguchi.
These can be found in the Warbirds Library under "CFS 2 Aircraft - Akemi Legacy" Search Category.

Giorgio, I've spent the last 3 years making historic multi-LOD AI war birds for FS9 and FSX - Spitfires, Hurricanes, Buchons, Mustangs, Thunderbolts, Lancasters, B-17s, B-24's, B-29s...... Just search my name at flightsim.com. I've also got B-24s and B-26s awaiting release. There's also a very detailed Duxford scenery, here in the UK, to go with them and a flight plan to simulate the annual Flying Legends air show, where by co-incidence, I've been today.

I can also help you with historic military vehicles to go with the American AI if you want.

John, no need to search for your name on Flightsim!
All of your fantastic aircraft and sceneries, have been installed on my FS, five minutes after their release!!! 8) 8) 8)

What I forgot to say before, is that these aircraft are not present in the list that can be found on the Owl's Nest (http://www.owlsnest.eu/aiaircraft.php) right because they are not "real" AI aircraft, and were created for CFS2.

Last part of the Akemi's aircraft, is for Val, Oscar and Tony.(High on poly count)

mz-ki61-otsu.zip 23714, 12022, 4353, 1543, 662, 76

Akemi Mizoguchi have produced other multi-LOD aircraft but they do not work so well in FS9. If someone want to play with their FDE, under "CFS 2 Aircraft - Akemi Legacy" Search Category of SOH site, can be found also the Ki-84, N1K1, C6N1, Ki-93, Ki-44, Ki-45 and so on.

Next to follow, start with the "overhauled" series. These are 9 LODs models, modified from the original CFS2 AC.

I couldn't see the Beech 18 over at Ray's, I didn't think that one was available.. I'd like to try a repaint or two myself.

Trying out painting, I did a couple of T28's as Fennecs. I uploaded those to Avsim recently if anyone's interested. But please be kind, I'm new to this.. :D

Ok, let's start with the "Overhaul" series.
These are the default CFS2 aircraft, with de-mirrored texture, to let the repainters to serialize the aircraft correctly. This was not possible on the original CFS2 model, that had textures only for one side of the aircraft.
Consequently, these AC have a new "model" that differs from the original one.
All of them fly very well in FS9 and have 9 LODs with a number of polygons comparable to the "MAIW standard".
The SOH Warbirds Library is not so well structured, so not all the base models (new FDE and Model files) are under the same category, if you are interested and you can't find the right files, let me know and I'll be happy to help out.
Most of these AC, were created by the B24Guys. You can search for the base file or for the repaints with these TAGs: B24Guys; B24Guy; overhaul;overhauled; dolcemascolo; Butterbrodt; demirror; demirrored.
Aircraft available are:
F4F3 and F4F4 Wildcat; F6F3 Hellcat; F4U1 A-C-D Corsair; A6M2-5 Zero; N1k2J Shiden (George); Ki43-IIb Hayabusa (Oscar); P-38F Lighning; TBD1 Devastator; SBD2 Dauntless; TBF Avenger; D3A1 VAL; B5N2 Kate; G4M2 Betty.

Some fighters from US
F4F3.zip Polygons: 4556; 3917; 3319; 2488; 644; 294; 84; 52; 0
Overhauled F4F4 Wildcat.zip Polygons: 4570; 3941; 3331; 2480; 644; 294; 84; 52; 0

OH_Hellcat.zip Polygons: 4805; 4263; 3149; 2415; 652; 436; 108; 56; 0

The last aircraft of the Overhauled series is the legendary Corsair. One of my favourite fighter of all time and, reading some old posts, one of the most wanted AI aircraft, even if it has only 23 votes on the OWL's Missing AI poll.
Base files are:
corsair6.zip (on Flightsim)
OH_F4U1A.zip (SOH)
DB_F4U1A.zip (SOH)
DB_F4U1C.zip (SOH)
DB_F4U1D.zip (SOH)
All files have almost the same FDE and use the same model files, excluding DB-F4U1C.zip, that needs to be installed separately.
I have installed all the repaints for A and D models using the files coming from DB_F4U1A.zip.
Polygons count are:
DB_F4U1A.zip 5327; 4775; 3145; 1284; 641; 371; 116; 72; 0
DB_F4U1C.zip 6487; 5315; 3705; 1428; 745; 220; 72; 0
There are tons of repaints available on SOH; Avsim (search for Butterbrodt) and Flightsim (search for Dolcemascolo)
