RAF Lakenheath for FSX/P3D
Hi
After a long break I am continuing with this scenery which was under development over at ACG as there was too much work already done to waste it. I also have been fortunate to have Pete Beeby add some nice tweaks to the ground work including seasonal ground textures which blend in perfectly for those with ORBX.
Below are some up to date screen shots.
Above the south Hush House with the newer radar behind
Custom HAS with squadron colour number plates.
494th FS Ramp with a couple of John Youngs excellent F-15 Models.
Aerial View of the central Technical Site
View from the 24 end
Overlooking the end of the 494th and visitor ramp
Aerial shot looking over the 56th RS site
Overview from the weapons area
I will not be modelling the Domestic side of the base and will not be modelling the main gate given the current climate.
I will be including full custom night lighting and approach lighting as well as hopefully seasonal trees.
Cheers
Ian

Nicely done, LN is one base that gives me some framerate issues.

Re: RAF Lakenheath for FSX/P3D
Hey Ian, if you are blending with ORBX Scenery, just use default FSX/P3d trees. For those of us that have ORBX packages downloaded (including HD trees) the default trees are automatically replaced with seasonal trees.
I have just ordered an F-111 book that covers all the Lakenheath units and Aircraft numbers involved in Desert Storm. With the intention of creating a retro pack for use with your Scenery. Does anyone know if there are already paints or Flightplans for John's FSX version of his 'Varks? -Woog

Ian, what a pleasure to find this announcement of your continuing work. It would have been a tragedy if this project had to die after that long and hard work. Thank you very much!
Regards, Manfred.

Ian...
Amazing news and can't say I'm surprised at your decision. So much excellent work has gone into this project so far.
Fully understand the decision regarding the domestic site as living areas are sensitive...the houses are or could be normal build and just placed as per google maps..no harm there.
The main gate and the aircraft on plinths...so many images freely available online so wouldn't cause an issue there either.
Onwards and upwards and with Pete assisting too...This already is exceptional from my mooching around and now it's only going to get better.
All the best Ian

Thanks Mark. I have the sound files you produced for a while back but if I remember rightly, you hadn't quite finished them. I think they sound fine - even the cat squeak is there. Do we run with what I have or do you want to do any more refining?
