Retro RNZAF C2001

Post by SeanG »

Just been working on repainting the NBAI Macchi in 14Sqn RNZAF colours for my 2001 era retro RNZAF.
Base paint is done, about to start serialising them :)

Maybe useful for someone doing a Draken Intl package?

What scenery are you using there?

It's something I've been working on for a while. When ever I get it done there will be scenery, aircraft and flight plans covering the RNZAF in early 2001, just before the air combat force was cut :(
I've done about 75% of the scenery, just tidying up the "plumbing" for drive-through parking, and an additional afcad for the PTS airtrainers to use the grass runway. Been a long time coming :)

Ahhh so it's a WIP. Very nice. I will look forward to getting my hands on a copy of that.

Just a wee update. Another trip away from home means evenings stuck in hotel rooms to spend on scenery design :)

You can see the hard work of the usual suspects cobbled together by yours truly..

Mike Pearson's A-4's
Nick Black's MB339
John Young's Tiger Moth
Jake Burrus's T-6/Harvard
Mike Cronin's CT4
PAI (I think) B727
John Stinstom's libraries
Vector Landclass Mil Objects (converted to FS9)
And even some of my objects!

There you go, Some more pics to clog up the forums :)

Great work Sean. Much appreciated and a nice gap filler too.

Well, if it works out ok I'll do a current model of Ohakea. There have been some big changes around the base since the fast jets left, including a massive new helicopter ops centre.

All I'd need then are models of NH90 and A109, and as we just swapped our CT4's for T-6c's they will be an easy add ;-)

A current Whenuapai is on the cards too. Be nice for the MAIW C-130's to have a proper home ;-)

Looking through this thread really has me excited - as an ex-pat Kiwi with a RW flying career back in "the day" (Mount Cook Airlines) I would love to install this quality of retro air bases and AI traffic. Is any of this, even if it's still in beta form, available anywhere for download? If so, where? If not, are you still planning on completing it? If I can be of help (AFCADs, traffic files, beta testing etc.) please let me know
Cheers
Ian

Hey Ian,
Not ready for Beta testing, but give me a little time and I'll zip it all up for you ;-)

Hey Martin,
Well, with Mike threatening to do a 'CB' version of Nick's MB339 it gotten closer ;-)
Biggest hurdle I have at the moment is reworking my AFCAD/ADE file for the taxi/parking... it's a bit of a mess, and I have a mix up somewhere in the "inbound" taxi path... which means that transports end up driving through combat parking slots to get to their parks... not ideal!

I am slowly working on it.... but if a clever AFCAD expert wants to help......

Hey Sean, looks awesome.
Ive just gone to P3D, are you likely to release just the flightplans when finished, or will it be a whole package?

Haven't decided yet.. I was planning a complete package for Ohakea but then got distracted by painting the 727 (since it visited Ohakea regularly, so I could justify it), which lead to the F27 and 421C.....
Once I have each of the types serialized I may make up some "representative" flightplans and release them individually.

On my list is also a retro late 80's Wigram with CT4's, Tourer's, F27's and UH-1's plus the historic flight Harvard and Tiger Moth which I have done for the Ohakea 2001 project... This will be an AFCAD for Ian Warren's Wigram '05 with aircraft and plans....

As we don't yet have an Andover C.1 to play with I've painted up the DWAI YS-11a as a stand-in. This shot shows 2 of the 3 schemes I've done, the 3rd is in a 1970's SEA "sand and green" and looks the best of the 3 IMHO :)
