NBAI F/A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet questions

Post by TheFoufure »

Hello everyone,

Can anyone tell me whether in the Nick Black models of the F / A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet there is a version with foldable wings? I would like to replace Tomcat and other AI models on my Alphasim Big E aircraft carriers.

Is there an AIR file allowing the use of these aircraft on an aircraft carrier? A bit like the one available on the Rafale.

Thank you.

I believe the answer to both of your questions is yes. Now where those files are is another question.

Hello

Thanks a lot for these answers.

I've find the Folding Wings models (only C version... :-( ) but I only find a DRY air file. If someone have a WET air file for use on aircraft carrier sceneries, he is welcom ;-)

I've remplaced all Alphasim AI Su-33 by SBAI Su-33 on my Admiral Kuznetsov sceneries. I"m trying to created more realistics Afcad. If I can do the same for USS Enterprise sceneries, it'll be great.

Hi TheFoufure.

Following your suggestion (link below) I used the wet air file of the Rafale and work fine. Now Hornets and Super Hornets catch the wire and stops over the ramp.

For Hornet, I've the Folding Wings model, but I haven't folding wings model for Super Hornet... I don't find it. Have you got one ?

I'll use EDAI E-2C hawkeye too, but I d'ont know if there is a Wet air file for it.

Have you got AFCAD for acft carriers ?

Sorry I don't got.
Today in the afternoon when I return home (here it is 11:30 a.m. and very far of my files) I pm you my AFCADs.
About a wet E-2, there is an interesting post that explain short takeoff and landings. Deals, among other things, on the use of the Drag Coefficient - Spoiler. Could you try it.

Hello.

I come back with this old topic.

In another topic, I read that someone can update the NBAI F-18E/F Super Hornet model with CFT.

But, is it possible to update it with folding wing (like the NBAI Finnish F/A-18C model) ?

Thanks a lot.

I updated the MBAI Super Hornet model for the RAAF. It included model smoothing and folding wings. I passed it along to the conversion team but that was the last I seen of it.

Are these wet versions for launching and landing on carriers?

The FS9 updates were done a few years ago and also included the Advanced Super Hornet model and was handed off to a MAIW developer at the time to complete for FSX conversion but that developer fell off the radar and so did the completed models. A few months ago i played around with Henk's F model and updated the folding wings and smoothed off the NBAI model and gave this model to another conversion developer for P3D. I don't believe it went any where further.

I found an old model file that may suit you, send me your email address. Can't promise it is in full working order but it has the E and F model and FSDS files as well.

I can't help thinking that rather sending it to people in dribs and drabs maybe it should be uploaded to the hangar so that it can be kept for good.

Would you mind doing that please.

Hi Steve
If you drop me a PM with an email address I can send it to you and you can upload it where you see fit. After all it is just one model.

Regards Paul Day.
