Thanks Hartwig. I'll be in touch when I have the LODs and all the paints done and you can take the H-72s for a spin.
I think I do want to make the H145M with the fenestron tail and I've just been doing a bit of research on what to produce. The German Luftwaffe has a number of this version with HSG64 at Laupheim (ETHL). Would this be a useful addition to the AI world?
So far by searching for photographs I have found 7 HSG64 H145M examples with codes on the tail of 76-02 to 76-08.
Could anyone tell me, perhaps from the Scramble database, how many are actually with HSG64 please and their tail codes in addition to what I have already?
Finally, does anyone know if any scenery of Laupheim exists that could be used to accommodate the H145Ms please?
Just to say also that the suggestion for a US Army Jet Ranger might be interesting, but I need to research that one too.
You can search Scramble for free without registration but results are limited to 30 so you have to be quite specific in the search fields. This is what a search for HSG64 and H145M returns:

All US Army Jet Ranger variants are now based solely at the graveyard at Davis Monthan in an unfortunately dissembled state.er
The navy still has a large number of them for USN/USMC training
Thanks for the H145M serials. I've modelled the fenestron tail and I'm just doing some re-mapping to accommodate it on the texture sheet. I think it will make a nice model.
Thanks Brent. The US Army Jet Ranger suggestion is one I won't be pursuing.
Mike, the two pilots are 1384 mesh polygons and 3 draw calls because the heads are animated. They need to be detailed because of the great expanse of glass they sit behind in the UH-72. The beauty of skidded helicopters is that they need less polygons overall than a fixed wing models, so I had quite a bit to play with and still keep under 8000. The detail in the pilots, in any case, reduces quite considerably in the next LOD and in the LOD after that they are reduced to hardly anything at all.
This will be my first non wheel helicopter in my sim. I guess there will be a lot of special AFCADs so the helicopters can take off and land vertically.

I wondered why no 1 and 2. In Scramble it appears that they are not associated with HSG64 but with Airbus:

76+02 H145M 20019 Airbus Helicop Active oct14 apr17 as D-HADP (sep15)
Yes indeed, Brent is working on the AFCADs (and scenery) for the UH-72As.
Thanks for the updated list for the H145Ms. I noticed those two registrations when I was searching for photographs. There are 15 on order I believe and all due for delivery by mid 2017. I'll include 76+14 and 76+15 as a logical guess.
Cobras (there's quite a variation) are a good suggestion and I know that Brent would appreciate the Japanese variant too. Steve P, a member here, sent me some really good plans and information a while back that I carefully filed away for the day when hover-taxi is cracked. I'd like to take the Cobras on, but I know that Kevin started one a while back. I would just like to check with him on the current state of play before committing.

I did quite a bit of testing yesterday and these work fine on the 500ft helicopter type AFCADs that I have been using to build other scenery, so in addition to the projects I am making specifically for this model, it looks like they should integrate well into existing scenery.
This is the Fenestron tail H145M variant in use by German Special Forces. I'll split the final model into two - one with the abseil hoists only and the other with the gun pods.
The second half of the Luftwaffe deliveries all seem to have windows in the clam shell doors, but to save on added complication, all 15 of my examples will have them.
The side exhausts are correct for these models, but I notice that Airbus show the H145M now with top vented exhausts. They may be featured on the Serbian aircraft when they are delivered, in which case I can update the model a little later if needed.
With the base UH-72 and H145M models all done now, I'll move on next to make the LODs.
