Military Pageant Shuttleworth

Post by shaggy22 »

This set is pretty much completely the opposite of what I normally post here. So if you're expecting big fast jets then look elsewhere. The Shuttleworth collection is a bunch of old, very old aircraft. Some date all the way back to 1910. The Bleriot XI didn't fly unfortunately but some of the other Edwardian aircraft did. The weather for them has to be nothing short of perfect, no wind, the right temperature, low humidity & the correct air pressure all have to be perfect or they don't even tow them out of the hangar. So to see 2 of them fly in the English summer is a real privilege.

Thanks for looking. As usual more on facebook or flickr C+C always welcome. If you're wondering what's next from me, it's RIAT followed almost immediately by BIAS & some US shows in September

I had no idea so many were still flying...

Kudos to all the people who keep these planes in such a good shape and are crazy enough to fly them.

I love the Demon purely because its in the colours of one of my old, now disestablished, squadrons.

Mike Cronin did a Beaver, search for that on Flightsim.com. I could fancy doing an Anson if I ever get up to speed on Gmax!

The Anson was the first aeroplane I ever flew in, on an AFDS flight from West Raynham to Coltishall in around 1957-58 for a mess do - I was about 2 and my sister was maybe 6 months old, and the babysitter was at Colt not at WR, so we had to travel with the lads, who were - according to my Dad - somewhat ratfaced before they even got on the Anson! I think we little ones survived better than our parents did...
