@all

Thank you very mehr for your help!

To my First question.

Lo need for Bright light bmp if it does not look realistic.

But I am curious to See a 1024x1024 would bring any Difference.
But why has the E model size Than F model?

It might be that the slime lights aren't so anti aliased (blurred) on the 1024x1024, let me re-create the 1024x1024 for the F model again.

I would appreciate a dxt3 with a 1024x1024 for Testing like the Light bmp of the E model

I'm only guessing since you don't need the HTS to employ the 88, maybe we didn't let them have the technology transfer.

Hi Weescotty

I tested the light bmp.

I Noticed an issue on the Roof light stripes.

I Noticed that the Green light stripes have a bigger Distance to each other Than the Green light Positions on the textures.

So the Positions do not Match 100%.

May be the Positions of the Green stripes on the lightbmp should be narrowed a little bit

Can you check that please?

Checked, and you are right.
This should be the fixed F model one...

Last of the Peace Vector VII Vipers delivered to Egypt in the fall of 2015, this Block 52+ D 'Big Spine' model is seen here in Egypt's distinctive high vis paint scheme minus its conformal fuel tanks.

Now here's the question for the smart guys around here, we know these F-16s are based at Cairo West Airfield, but what I can't find is what squadron or unit they are associated with?

Anyone know? My Google skills seem to have reached the end of the internet tonight.

If I had to guess those new F-16s for the EAF at Cairo West are with the 222 Tactical Fighter Brigade (76 Squadron and 78 Squadron), replacing their F-4 Phantoms. Those are the last two F-4E Phantom squadrons in the EAF, and my guess is that with the latest F-16 deliveries they are starting the conversion process to the F-16.

That's what I would bet on if I was forced to bet on it.

Hi Mike! I don't know if this may help you but I found a photo of #9824 with conformal fuel tanks. Best regards, Maurizio

Yes the CFTs can be removed or added as needed. so we model them that way as well. Some will have them, some won't. Thanks for the picture, every picture helps us make the models more accurate.

Here is the same aircraft during its delivery flight without them and minus the orange markings:

All of the Egyptian Bk52+ aircraft were delivered minus the CFT's. Only after they got in country did images of them with CFT's fitted start to appear. Seems strange but the CFT's must have been shipped separately.

The United States has never allowed Egypt to have advanced identification friend or foe technology on their US made fighters. This equipment allows a fighter to know if the target they are looking at on radar is friendly or not. Therefore the Egyptians have to visually identify up close any unknown airborne targets before engaging them.

In order to aid in this requirement and to prevent friendly fire, approximately half of Egypt's F-16s are painted with high visibility orange markings. Since their next door neighbors all fly F-16s as well, and F-4's before that, there is a high probability that any regional conflict would involve air to air engagements between F-16s of different countries. With that many F-16s potentially mixing it up, the orange markings give the Egyptians an advantage with air to air identification.

The block 52's that they just received and that we are modelling here have the 'bird slicer' antennas on the nose just ahead of the canopy. Those antennas are for the equipment mentioned above, yet they Egyptian F-16s do not have the avionics installed that use those antennas. Essentially they are dead weight. Maybe one day if regional politics change, they will be able to install the AIFF technology.

This is also why the Egyptian Bk 52 F-16s do not use AMRAAM missiles. Those are 'beyond visual range' fire and forget missiles and can only be used if you know who you are shooting at on radar.

Yet the US allows Morocco, Turkey, Israel and Greece, all regional neighbors, to have that capability thereby stacking the odds in those country's favor.

Interestingly the new Egyptian Rafale fighters do not use the high vis orange markings since they are the only country outside of France currently flying the Rafale so far.

Regardless of using friend/enemy Detecting Systems?

Not sure. Maybe they all feel like their individual paint schemes are enough to help them identify who is who in that part of the world.

The IDF has a very distinctive desert cammo as well as the Moroccan F-16's. The Turks use the standard two tone gray on gray scheme used by the US and most of its western European allies. The Greeks also have a distinctive scheme that is different than all the rest. Even the new Iraqi F-16IQ models have a distinctive paint scheme that differs than their neighbors.

It certainly keeps things interesting, that's for sure! I just read today that the Egyptians are not happy that the Turks are conducting military operations inside of Syria right now. Good times....
