Ground shadows are white, not dark?????

Post by MIKE JG »

All of my shadows on the ground from either scenery or models (AI or user) show up as a white shadow instead of the normal dark color.

Anyone know if there is a texture file in FS9 that I can search for to see if it is the offending file??

 What the hell have you done???

Is it just at one base? What have you installed since the last time you booted up FS9?

The reason I asked is that something I installed included a kind of olive green bmp which replaced a default grassland texture and it took me months to cure it. Int he end I had to go back to my saved clean install and copy the default textures back in and then apply my textures sets again to get rid of it.
A right pain.

Incidentally, if you do go down that path, rename rather than remove the texture folder in can be a great help in comparing textures and helping recovery.

A right pain it is. No it's been this way for a while, just trying to track down the cause finally. I was hoping someone knew which file was responsible for the shadows. Has to be something, there's a 'shadow' there it's just not the correct color.

Will probably end up doing what you suggest unfortunately.

Yep, it will be a pain but renaming will help you as you can compare the dates of the original install textures against that of your current textures. If you are lucky when you sort the new folder and your current one by date something will jump out at you but it can take a bit of time. I think mine took me around 45 mins to work out the problem texture.

Maybe go to a very remote airport with no other scenery nearby (aircraft carrier in the middle of the ocean or just one of the waypoints over sea?).

Then use ProcessMonitor while the scenery is loading and monitor the textures that are loaded
