Have a go with this....

I've used it in the past and I think this may provide what you're looking for.

Maybe today I'm lucky...
I read just a couple of page of the manual and at the first tentative, I've obtained what I needed. 8)
Thanks a lot Jim.

Giorgio, did you have a look into that batch file?
There is a command string for imagetool.
You can set the output format and the mipmap settings in this command string.

This overview shows all the options what you can convert with imagetool.

However I think the issue in your case is the 2048x2048 texture.
FS9 can usually only handle 1024x1024 textures although there are a few exceptions.
To batch resize textures you will need a different tool.
I am using ACDSEE to do this. However ACDSEE cannot read dxt format.
So first batch convert the DXT textures into 24bit bitmap, then batch resize the textures to 1024x1024, then batch convert the resized textured to the desired output format.

If your FSX textures are in bitmap format then no flipping is necessary while converting.
Only DDS textures have to be flipped when converted into bitmap format.

Personally I only use imagetool to batch convert scenery textures.
For aircraft textures I only use DXTBmp. However it is not possible to batch convert with DXTBmp.

For my taste DXTBmp results in better image quality after converting.

I looked at the batch, but not knowing these parameters, I didn't know how to obtain what I need.
It's a very useful information for future reference. Thanks a lot.
As said, I have converted the textures, using the Texture Manager highlighted by Jim.

Thanks again to all.

XnConvert is a very good and free tool that can do most things. Check that out.

From mobile hence short

Sorry for abandoning this thread I've been rushed off my feet lately and not had time to check MAIW. I can convert these to FS9 for you...i only didn't as I was just about to move house and wanted to get them online before I dismantled my computer.

Hi Ricki, I've done the conversion for FS9 some days ago. If ok for you, I can publish it here on MAIW. I've just to finalize the FP and the AFD for 1NKX.
Just a question about serials.
I've noticed that some serials are the same already released by John in the original package, but these are assigned to different squadron.
Are these AC moved from one squadron to the new one? If yes, the original released, can be deleted.
Thanks, Giorgio

Here the list for duplicate serials:
Serial: 165841 Old VMM163 New VMM165
Serial: 166736 Old VMM163 New VMM161
Serial: 167904 Old VMM764 New VMM161
Serial: 167917 Old VMM764 New VMM363
Serial: 167920 Old VMM764 New VMM161
Serial: 168014 Old VMM262 New VMM165
Serial: 168026 in VMM161 and VMM165 both new
Serial: 168286 Old VMM268 New VMM165 and VMM363
Serial: 168322 Old VMM268 New VMM363

Of course go ahead and release the FS9 ones.
I painted the airframes I could find recent images of from that perticular squadron - feel free to look them up and make a decision.
It's always confusing when V-22s and SH-60s swap squadrons - can be a nightmare trying to get an accurate list for each squadron!
