Just please attach the fsrealwx.log

That is the only useful thing at the moment.

Sorry, Steve,
As I said before, there is no fsrealwx.log file with this version of FSrealWX….. That was why I think that we are not talking about the same version of program....

According to that changelog it is so old as to be unbelievable.

OK. Copy your fsrealwx folder. This will be your safe backup.
Now clear out all the files from the original fsrealwx folder, do not delete it.
I am sending you a zip of my folder. When you get it copy all the files into the empty fsrealwx folder. Omit nothing and add nothing.

Now start fsrealwx. You should see a window with not connected and a fsrealwx.log will be created. Do nothing else with fsrealwx.
Now start FS9 you will see fsrealwx connect. Now load up any base. You will see the wx data download and load into FS9.
If the weather does not change then press the 'Set All Wx' button or wait 5 mins until the next wx download.

You will see that the wx is set for the base you loaded up.

See what happens and report back.

It seems that either your email address is wrong, but it worked yesterday or it is refusing the zip file.
Can you confirm that you got my email yesterday, if you did could you respond to it please.

OK the problem is that your email refuses to accept zips.

Instead I have emailed you the address of the zip on my OneDrive.

let me know how you got on.

The versions that you were downloading from avsim were v0.10 and v0.4, the final version the one I have is v1.07

Hey!
Doing as you suggested, I see now…
I see only extremely short time a WX-window that opens and closes when I click FSrealWX.exe to start the procedure.
Then I see the FSrealWX Lite window showing 'not connected'.
After that I open FS9 and set the Weather settings on 'User defined weather' and click OK
Nothing happens, no weather action. I click 'Set All WX' and nothing happens
The fsrealwx.log tells now
At the end still 'not connected'.....

quote
2018-09-13 08:57:34: FSrealWX Start

2018-09-13 09:01:25: Main: Sent WX to FS

No mesage at all about an 'incorrect FSUIPC'
When Iopen FSUIPC in the Modules folder, I see nothing special....
Is there anything special that I need te change setting of?

Strange! Why no reaction?

OK so this is an improvement. The issue now maybe is something in the install process that allows the connect.

So now lets try something fresh.
1. Save the fsrealwx.ini file somewhere safe
2. Delete that folder completely.
3. Rename the copy of your original installation back to what you originally had.
4. Uninstall it.
5. Install the version from the OneDrive link that I have just sent you.
That is v1.07. You should then have the same version of FS9, the same version of fsuipc and the same version of fsrealwx.

This time, once installed, start FS9 first at any base you like. Then start fsrealwx.
What should happen is that the window open and you should see it connect in the status line. You should then see it automatically download the weather and apply it.

Shut down fsrealwx and show me what the fsrealwx.log has in it.

If for any reason it doesn't work. Then try renaming your .ini file and then copying my one that you saved back again. I know this works so it should for you too.
Show me the .log file from that attempt.

Now you should get it working from the first attemp but if not the second definitely should, as I set it up to receive weather from NOAA.

Hey! Steve,
After doing what you suggested I see the fsrealwx.kog shows...

quote
2018-09-13 11:22:04: FSrealWX Start
2018-09-13 11:22:04: OS: Microsoft Windows NT, Architecture: 64 bit

unquote

But, I see also in the fsrealwx-window, right of the little square for the Metar setting: "waiting for FS"
All the time it was also showing "not connected"

Connection should be established via FSUIPC. Can it be that some settings are wrong in FSUIPC?

As long as fsuipc was installed then there shouldn't be any issue.
It might be worth trying to re-install fsuipc over the top just to make sure. When it is installed fsuipc does check some registry keys. If they have become corrupted it could cause the issue of finding FS9.

I must admit that I thought that you had already re-installed it.

When you have done that check the fsuipc install.log, which will be in Flight Simulator 9\Modules with the fsuipc.dll.

If everything looks OK there then retry.

Hey!
As you suggested, I re-installed FSUIPC already a few times, even this morning.
See the FSUIPC.log in my email to you….
See also the fsrealwx.log now:

quote

Everything OK I think, so i retried FSrealWX and I had the same result as before, not connected….

Thanks, I got your fsuipc install log.

I was shocked to see that you seem to be running XP SP2, is this correct?

My install log is completely different and could very well be down to the OS :-

Installer for FSUIPC.DLL version 3.999z2

Code: Select all

Looking in registry for FS9.1 install path:
     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\9.1
     Parameter"EXE Path"
Not there, so looking in:
     HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\9.1
     Parameter"EXE Path"
... NOT found! ...
Looking in registry for FS9 install path:
     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\9.0
     Parameter"EXE Path"
... >>> OK! FOUND FS9! <<< ...
===========================================================

INSTALLATION FOR FS9:
EXE Path="F:\Flight Simulator 9\"
Checking if there's already a version of FSUIPC installed in:
       F:\Flight Simulator 9\Modules\FSUIPC.DLL
... Version 3.999w found.
Okay -- installed FSUIPC into "F:\Flight Simulator 9\Modules\FSUIPC.DLL"
"Modules\FSUIPC Documents" folder already exists.
Now installing additional files into the "Modules\FSUIPC Documents" folder:
   Installed "FSUIPC User Guide.pdf" okay
Installed "FSUIPC for Advanced Users.pdf" okay
   Installed "FSUIPC History.pdf" okay
Installed "List of FS2004 controls.pdf" okay
   Installed "FSUIPC Lua Library.pdf" okay
   Installed "FSUIPC Lua Plug-Ins.pdf" okay
   Installed "Lua License.pdf" okay
Installed "Lua Plugins for VRInsight Devices.pdf" okay
   Installed "LuaFileSystem.pdf" okay
   Installed "Example LUA plugins.zip" okay
   Installed "SIMSAMURAI+FSUIPC+TUTORIAL.pdf" okay
   Installed "FSUIPC for Programmers.pdf" okay
===========================================================

All installer tasks completed okay!
Registration for FSUIPC was cancelled or failed! (result code 40)

*************** End of Install Log ***************

Now it could be that fsrealwx is not compatible with XP., that I can't test and nothing on their site indicates whether it will work or not. What i did find in a thread somewhere is that somebody was having connection problems and showing that they were using XP. Somebody responded that you needed to set the compatibilty mode to XP SP3.

It has to be worth trying that.

Hey!
No, definitely not. I'm running Windows 10 Home 64
And I myself now am surprised to see this line "Running on Windows Version 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2" in the logfile of FSUIPC. I hag never looked at because to me there seemed not to be any reason to worry about. But now I start to believe that my FSUIPC is corrupted. How can I find out that it is or not?
About the latter lines of your message: is it possible to make so that it states that I am running on Windows 10?

OK in which case that is a log that you have brought from another PC and not one that has been installed on your PC.

There is no other option than removing all traces of fsuipc from your FS9 installation, which can be found in your \Flight Simulator 9\Modules folder, the DLL and the LOG and the FSUIPC folder found there as well. Do a complete search to ensure a clean system.

Download the latest version from Pete Dowsons page (3.999z9) and install it.
Forget about registering or anything like that you don't need it at the moment.
Look at the FSUIPC Install.log and it should be similar to mine, unless it has changed since I installed mine.

For some reason something is screwy there and as you saw the install checks for the registry entries for FS9 to ensure that it will be found.

If it looks similar then start the test again.

*NOTE*
I have just read the install instructions and it says clearly that from 7 onwards 3 files are installed into C:\Users\xxx\Documents\Flight Simulator Files . Theses are the .ini, the.log and the .key file.

Now once you have installed show me the fsuipc.log from there plus the FSUIPC Install.log from the \modules folder. The fsuipc.log file may not be created until after you run FS( with it installed.

Ahh! So you have already tested, excellent.

Well you can re-register at your hearts content tomorrow, all it entails is copying back your FSUIPC.key file to your C:\Users\xxx\Documents\Flight Simulator Files folder.
Registering just creates the key file.

When you get time post your FSUIPC Install.log and FSUIPC.log files, before you either add back your .key for or re-register.

Re: Real Weather

Post by Jive1 »

Hey! Steve,
I'm testing all the possibilities that you suggested….
When I said you yesterday that the last FSUIPC from Peter Dowson that I downloaded, worked, that was meaning….
1°with that FSUIPC version I saw FSrealWX connecting to FSUIPC, and I saw some actions in FSrealWX, possibly weatherloading
2° Registering that last FSUIPC was no problem at all, it could be done with the key of my own FSUIPC
3° When registered, that last FSUIPC did not work, so I had to use non-registered.
However, I don't really understand all the data that are visible in the FSrealWX-window, most of them, OK, but some data are mysterious to me. Also the functions of the various buttons on the menu is not clear to me. Is there somewhere a tutorial of the program? Where to find on the Net, because I have been searching, but could not find a tutorial.
My experience up to now is, that eighter I start with FS, or I start with FSrealWX, it does not matter, with the unregistered FSUIPC it works. The only thing is that I don't understand how the weather switches from one to another area, especially when I want to go to a far away area, there I have problems in finding the right way to swith smoothly the weather from one to the other area....
Anyhow, this combination works, that is very important! And I am very grateful for all the time that you spend on helping me, it is very kind of you, I thank you very much!
